I guess I understand why it’s the case, but it still blows my mind that British Standards documents aren’t freely available from .gov.uk as a download.
They’re literally the documents that outline how things should be done, but you have to pay a vast amount to access any of them.
There were no cheese scones in M&S. it’s like Rhubarbgate all over again. I’ve got to do some more potting up of plants this afternoon, that’s something I used to really enjoy but right now the thought makes me quite literally lose the will to live. I’ll do what I can
This annoying new Mastodon trend of repeating the toot as the alt text in an image has better stop soon or I will beat your arse! It's lazy and unhelpful and frankly disrespectful for people who need the bloody alt text to "see" the image.
That does sound annoying! I wasn't aware of it as I'm unable to see any alt text since swapping to the Firefox browser.
None of the apps worked for me when I joined fedi and so I just added it to my screen as a kind of web app thingy.
I got the alt text when I was still on chrome and doing that, but haven't found a way to access it since using Firefox.
Which is a shame, because I enjoy good alt text, it helps everyone!
Nope, I get a series of options such as "open in background tab", "Download image" and "share link"
But no option to view alt text.
I can see whether or not there is alt text, because a little ALT symbol is in the corner of the image (tapping that brings up the options from earlier).
The only time I see the alt text is if the picture itself doesn't load.
We give such weird advice to kids. I remember being 12, and very shy, and people would tell me to just be myself. Now 30 years later, I'm 42, and still trying to figure that out.
I woke up with Walk The Dinosaur in my head. When I mentioned this to Tom he claimed never to have heard of it, so I had to go onto Spotify to prove to us both that I hadn’t dreamed it up. How has he never heard this 80s classic?
Something occurred to me earlier, and it’s twisted my melon, but in a good way.
I was diagnosed with #ADHD in 2019, and have been on medication since. I have a huge problem with imposter syndrome, that somehow I tricked a professional into giving me speed. It’s not as bad as it used to be, but there are still some things that eat away at me a little.
I had a few times where I got stuck doing one thing when I had deadlines for something else. I spent a day baking when I had an important study deadline imminent for example! Tasty, but not helpful!
@TheBreadmonkey
Yeah, there's a shortage of some ADHD meds at the moment. I don't know the details as mine aren't affected. @DJDarren do you know more?
