I am not a native English speaker and I have sometimes referred to people as male and female (as that is what I have been taught) but I have received some backlash in some cases, especially for the word “female”, is there some negative thought in the word which I am unaware of?...
Depends entirely on how you use it. There are many perfectly valid uses for the word, like in science or on a checkbox where you select your gender. The point where it can get offensive is when referring to individuals or groups of women as “females” where you could instead just use “women”. It’s language often used by incels and the like.
Only recent Apple product I have is an iPad. Android still isn’t that great when it comes to tablets and doesn’t have many tablet optimized apps. The iPad is nice for drawing using the pencil and Procreate, watching movies and reading the newspaper. I don’t use any of the Apple ecosystem stuff like iCloud etc. Some things are mildly infuriating though, like having no real browser choice (hopefully soon to change).
Kinda true in Europe though. Don’t know anyone who uses iMessage, it’s pretty much irrelevant. I know the situation in the US is quite different, but ultimately they don’t regulate for the US market.
The Post-WW2 reeducation programs for denazification were probably justified. Like showcasing the horrors of the nazi regime by giving people mandatory tours of the concentration camps etc.
Got to give it to them, it’s almost impressive how they found the most useless and malicious way to comply with the new regulations. I can only hope that the EU doesn’t let that stand. EU bureaucrats never work fast though, so Apple probably succeeded in keeping their monopoly for at least a few more years.
Their lack of required information to dox me. The “worst” thing they have about me is my IP and what I post in this public forum, but it’s not like they know my actual name or where I live or anything.
Both Yuzu and Citra are still available on the Discover Store, or at least they were when I checked ~12 hours ago. I don’t think Emudeck will uninstall it, they certainly aren’t required to.
Yes, the team behind Yuzu and Citra is disbanding, so Citra is being discontinued. But it’s an open-source project under a GPL license, so other developers can maintain their own version of it.
The strategies that Nintendo used for suing Yuzu wouldn’t really work for Citra, as it’s not a current system and doesn’t even require a firmware/keys. Doubt Nintendo will bother either, they never did for older systems.
Whatsapp is ubiquitous in my country, so while I try to use Signal with as many people as I can, I do use Whatsapp at least every couple days. Never had Instagram or Threads. I have an inactive facebook account. Actually checked my Facebook feed recently out of curiosity. It’s amazing how dead it is these days. I could scroll for ages and none of the posts were from people on my friends list, or even pages I liked. Everything was just generic shit.
I feel like every two years I need to call my carrier and complain if I want a decent deal. They will do things like upgrade my plan on their website to have 10 extra gigabytes of data but won’t upgrade me to it until I contact them. There’s also all the new member exclusive deals that I feel make it impractical to just sit...
The Skull and Bones beta motivated me to start a second playthrough of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, 10 years after my first one. Having a blast, it’s honestly even better than I remembered and runs great on the Steam Deck.
The US is supporting Israel through what we can mostly all agree is a genocide of the Gazans. Clearly, Biden isn’t a genocidal maniac, yet he’s all in with unwavering support. Why are we doing this? There has to be a logical reason that isn’t just “we want Israel to kill everyone in Gaza and take their land a la...
I was downvoted before for suggesting the Pinetab is not a viable Android or iPad replacement. That thing doesn’t even have a working wifi driver yet, you have to plug in a dongle just to connect to wifi. I’d love to have good smart devices running Linux one day, but we’re not there yet.
Good to know that there is now a testing branch for a wifi driver. That wasn’t the case when I wrote the original comment I was talking about. Still, this took almost a year of selling a tablet with no working wifi. There is inconvenience and then there is a product just being in an unfinished, effectively unusable state. I don’t really see how having no wifi driver is “freedom”. The freedom to code my own driver? I guess, but that doesn’t make for an actually usable device.
Heh, kinda, but it’s basically just a way to save taxes. The 50€ I get on there each month are legally considered “non-cash benefits”, which aren’t taxed.
This question is social/political, and meant to trigger a nice debate on the negatives of imbalanced infinite progressivism we seem to be heading in social and technological spheres, ignoring science, practicality and reason....
Infinite progressivism is not a thing that can exist. While growth is a number, which can theoretically stretch to infinity, progressivism is a political ideology with stated goals. Those may shift over time but there’s no infinite progressive path to follow.
I’d love to play it with my niece and nephew if the game had a split screen mode. Not going to happen if they need a Switch and a copy of the game each.
Is "female" offensive?
