    True.
    The main reason I never pivoted into a dev career (which was basically my goal since childhood) was that early on in my IT career, I worked kind of closely with some devs, and at a risk of sounding arrogant, I was dumbfounded at how little they knew or understood computers.

    Just operating their own PCs was a struggle, let alone grappling with ISA minutiae.

    In the big picture, if the dev compiles it a thousand times, it may we'll be run a million times.

    Runtime inefficiency translates pretty directly into greenhouse gas emissions.

    That's not to say they might not have known how to optimize their code within their own abstracted (Java) universe, but I had always thought as a young guy that programmers were hardware wizards as well, not just code-slingers. 🤷‍♂️

    Mass definitely effects dV. If you take on more cargo/dry mass, your dV drops.

    1. Use NewPipe on Android and subscribe to channels that look interesting to you
    2. Add and account on a curated instance like @tilvids (https://tilvids.com) and enjoy the content there
    3. Add an account on a more widely federating instance like https://diode.zone and enjoy content from all over the fedi

    I didn't really work on my new book this weekend because starting tomorrow, in the absence of a full-time job, I will be working on it full-time during the day. I am currently partway through chapter three (of nine).

    I have never written full-time before, and I am curious what kind of pace I can maintain, and how long it will take to complete the first draft. I plan to post updates on my progress here.
