Spotify pays you $0.003 each time your song gets played. Meanwhile, on Discogs, I see recently released copies of vinyl albums selling for $200.

If you can sell one vinyl album for that much money, why don’t you do it?

I may have to reschedule Friday’s livestreams.

I fought as hard as I could but all the stressors in my life have triggered a bipolar episode that is requiring a big response from my care team.

I just don’t think as of this exact moment that I can give the streams the energy and care that you’ve come to expect from me.

We’ll see.

I am having problem updating Faircamp from 0.10.1 to 0.11.0

When I run brew upgrade faircamp I end up here.

I tried removing the file, but still same.

I am on a MacOS 11.4 system if that makes a difference.

So hard keep track of music on here, when you are using an app designed for micro-blogging :(

As a musician on social media, we are basically asking people to do admin on our behalf, just to listen to our stuff. No-one opens Masto to do admin.

I am following loads of AMAZING artists. If we had a Fedi client designed for ?!

  • musicians tag their genre
  • feed -> genre playlist of musicians you follow, & tracks that friends share
  • persistent music player web app / mobile app

I haven’t used either before, and I’m not clear about:

  • whether they adjusts to user’s time zone
  • can you follow an event, or just an instance
  • does it send reminders of an event, or just posts when it’s published? Is this customisable?
  • any way to prevent clashing events?

On New Year's Day Parade, we were chatting how to find each other on the directory... Maybe using a tag, like this? https://directory.owncast.online/tags/bonk

Although I haven't YET submitted one of my many tracks to a comp, I like as a tag! What do yous think?

@ke7zum I think it could really work, if a whole group of us choose a tag! Then, whenever we feel like watching something, or we’re finished our stream and would like to “raid into” our friend’s channel, we could just use the directory?

Maybe one for music, one for games, one for coding streams? Those are the three categories I like to watch, anyway :)

Also, I remember a late night convo on NYD about using “Glide” or something instead of “Raid” haha! Sounds friendlier 😆 But will people know what we mean?!

@lislegaard @ety @ke7zum @gabek yeah definitely, I think the promise of a side income is what keeps a lot of people on Twitch.

I had an idea a while ago for something that would parse commands like !cheer in the chat, so that people could pre-pay a little bit to the server’s Opencollective or something. And then you could see from the time the command was issued which streamer to apportion the “bits” to.

But I have no idea how to code that 😆

@gabek I’ve been poking around Discourse cause people told me they have ActivityPub plugin now… and just saw they have chat capability as well. But haven’t seen either in the wild yet.

I guess cause so many of us are coming together over Fedi, it exposes how bad microblogging formats & even chat are for plotting stuff together 😆
