and we still can’t get vmware to run properly on our company laptops. current theory is p/e core scheduling shenanigans. it’s only been two years, what can you expect from the global leaders in virtualization and os.

i swear, before i upgrade I’ll move my team to Linux. I’ve been mainlining debian for six years without issues, INCLUDING RUNNING VMWARE.

we use vmware because customers do. if they migrate - which they might because of the licensing thing - we will too. so it’s an actual possibility already.

you know, that was a really relaxing time. why do i need to give you numbers about a project six months into the future that won’t hold up the second we finish? it’ll be six, maybe five, possibly seven months. that should be enough, right?

You’re probably right. The setup they have now is an old netgear nighthawk with an AP to cover the second story. It works fine if it works, but it needs to be restarted when the prepaid internet shuts off and comes back. My dad rewired the AP and then wondered why it didn’t work anymore.

There’s the option of cameras where they can’t make up their mind. If cameras I’d like an integrated system for everything, which is why I was looking for a modular approach. But if I use a Dream Router that’s not even the case anymore, either.

I guess I have to tell them - once again - that we have to sit down and make up their minds about what they want. Then I can make up mine about what debugging options I want.

I always thought it was missing the bridge between “SMS on your phone” and “messages on any paired device”. Y u no sync SMS to my desktop client and allow responses :(
