Wonder which executive got annoyed that they went into the office, they noticed no one else was suffering in-office with them and this is the outcome.

The one that gets the bonus.

RememberTheApollo_,

Worst books were the ones that missed a step or forgot to draw a line. Something simple like flipping the paper over.

I think I got one or two books like that as a kid and have never touched origami since.

RememberTheApollo_,

Says you, filling in the blanks, under the assumption that someone would pull a gun on someone who states they’re law enforcement? Two edged sword, friend.

RememberTheApollo_,

Funny how people would argue on one side that pointing a gun at someone is perfectly legit self defense, but if it’s a cop that the individual says didn’t state they were a cop, suddenly it’s cool to arrest them.

Really trying hard to play both sides of coin to be right, aren’t ya.

RememberTheApollo_,

The gymnastics are incredible. If pointing a gun isn’t self defense then there would be a lot of gun/parts manufacturers out of business as an enormous amount of arsenals would suddenly vanish when people were no longer able to justify owning most of their guns.

Are you for real? What are you gonna Butwhatabout me next over? Keep moving the goalposts.

RememberTheApollo_,

If everywhere you go it smells like shit, check the bottom of your own shoe first.

RememberTheApollo_,

At least he didn’t publicly share what his bonus was going to be for improving the bottom line.

RememberTheApollo_,

There’s a subset of the population that is absolutely fine with businesses fucking over regular people in the name of profit in no-harm crimes like you mention. Heck, they even want certain political figures to screw over regular people because they’re great businessmen.

Of course they’d probably change their tune if they’re the ones getting screwed over.

Would you be buried alive for 48hr for a million dollars?

You are buried in a coffin 6ft deep, with no light or cell phone. There is only a small tube connected to the coffin from outside that allows you to breathe (edit: you can breathe with no difficulty). After 48 hours, you are dug up and given 1 million dollars. Do you do it?...

RememberTheApollo_,

Nope. I’d freak out before the first shovelful of dirt hit the coffin lid.

I’m not generally claustrophobic, but that level of confinement would be unbearable.

How can we make lemmy a safer place for women? Is it even possible to?

So to preface this is posted in literature.cafe’s meta community but this question is primarily aimed at generally anyone in the lemmyverse who is NOT a cisgender man no matter what instance they may be in. The purpose of this thread is to present a stage for conversation for those willing to contribute, and although cisgender...

RememberTheApollo_,

Cis guy here:

I’ll only offer that (those of us who care) we don’t know unless we’re told in a reasonable fashion, we don’t know what we don’t know, and even if we understand in an intellectual or empathetic manner what is being asked, we still probably haven’t experienced whatever the issue is.

I only mention this to provide a viewpoint as to how the requested changes might be framed so those of us like the above can understand too.

RememberTheApollo_,

Respectfully, I wanted the post to represent areas in which people may not be aware of.

Certainly one would hope that common sense and courtesy would take care of the known behaviors (i.e. don’t be a jerk), and I made the post with earnest intent. We can’t fix people who knowingly cross lines and wait to be told to straighten up and fly right before they do the right thing.

No physical touching during a dance. I think it was 7th or 8th grade.

That’s not a dance. That’s just stupid.

RememberTheApollo_,

Something that applies when you get a little older - if you’re in a relatively specific job field, don’t burn your bridges at a job you’re going to leave. You never know who will be sitting across the table from you at the interview, at the meeting table, on the job site. People in the same field tend to move around in the same jobs as you. If it’s someone you burned, you may not get the job, or if you do, it could be pretty miserable.

RememberTheApollo_,

So hard when sarcasm describes exactly what I’d want in a phone.

RememberTheApollo_,

Ditto. Was goi lng to comment the same. Had a bed of ground cover that was poison ivy free 2 years ago, now it’s full of it.

“I simply fell short of my values”: Lauren Boebert issues apology after being removed from “Beetlejuice” performance (coloradosun.com)

The Republican congresswoman said “while none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that”

RememberTheApollo_,

I’m sure there’s plenty of stupid on tinder, an iphone is a lousy metric. Used ones can be had for far cheaper than the mistake of wasting money trying to date someone like that.

RememberTheApollo_,

I feel the same…because I feel dumb for having not thought to bring my own or adequately charge my phone. If anything else, I’m probably irritated too because of the proprietary cable means I can’t just use any old USB-C, or micro/mini usb that are so ubiquitous.

RememberTheApollo_,

The difficulty is getting the LAN settings right because each router has different setups, especially if you’re not familiar with somewhat more advanced settings like making the Pi/PiHole the DNS for devices on the LAN, then getting the VPN to do the same - I run the VPN on the Pi as well with OVPN. You’ll also need DDNS so you have a fixed IP to use to login to your VPN. Once done though, other than an occasional update, you never really need to touch it again. I’m only modestly tech savvy, FWIW, but it’s been worth it to install the PiHole.

RememberTheApollo_,

VNC is remote desktop.

This is PiHole, network-wide ad scrubbing. I’ve been running it for years, highly recommend. It’s not perfect, but in conjunction with things like ublock origin on a desktop, it’s a whole different internet.

Amplified and exaggerated?

It’s a direct quote from the site.

RememberTheApollo_,

As mentioned, it’s rare. You played the odds every time you jumped in, and didn’t win the amoeba lottery. It’s a lousy lottery to win. I swam in my share of lakes and rivers and survived, too.
