I used one a couple weeks ago to put up supports for my grape vines. But when I was a teenager I had a horse and was constantly rotating his grazing area so I am very familiar with it.
My greatest wish for this election season is that everyone would just vote for Taylor Swift. I personally don’t care much for her music, but she has a lot of popularity right now and I think she would do a better job than anyone else currently running. The biggest plus is it would be someone under 60! I realize this is all fantasy, but someone brought this up in the comments of a post about her urging people to vote and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Yeah GRRM thinks too much of his characters, he wrote a match between Jaime Lannister and Rand Al’thor, and Jaime won. Absolutely ridiculous a guy who can wield magic that can burn people out of time vs a guy with a sword.
Three officers approached the boy’s house, with one asking “What you doing bro, you good?” They heard a loud bang, later determined to be fireworks, and shot at the child. Fortunately, no physical injuries were recorded. In initial reports, police falsely claimed that they fired at a “man” who had fired on officers....
The information is then forwarded to humans who purportedly have the expertise to verify whether the sound was gunfire (and not, for example, a car backfiring), and whether to deploy officers to the scene.
How many cars are around that still backfire loudly enough to be mistaken for gunfire?
The teacher missed an opportunity to encourage the anon, “Oh anon how kind of you to carry around enough sharpeners to share with those who don’t have any, thank you!” That said 70 is a lot, I just hate when teachers only see the negative side of things and punish kids for stupid reasons.
Yes, you are correct on all points. But even if there were prior issues encouraging words can turn things around, no reason to discourage and frustrate children over something small.
We are all aware of the creative choices they made, and that some of them didn’t really add much positively compared to the original. Are there ones you ended up liking?
For me it’s how clearly Zuko’s family story was told. Note it’s been years since I watched the original, but I remember it being a little muddled until later in the show. But it might have been the longer story spacing out the emotional impacts. The clear picture of a narcissist dad playing his kids against each other/their Mother, oof that hit close to home. Too real and relatable.
Ugh! My younger brother did this and won the library reading contest, I was so mad. All the books he read were around 100-200 pages, I decided to read A Tale of Two Cities and a couple other books like it. It was an injustice I read twice the amount of pages he did.
Yes, I was a rather pretentious 12 year old. I think I picked all the books off a high school level recommended reading list because I thought it would impress the judges.

I have had a similar experience. Previously the only thing we had was a AT&T hot spot that got 10/2 in one specific window. Starlink has been a godsend allowing me to work from home. My job for the last two years has been remote tech support for manufacturing, where I have to regularly VPN into customers sites to help them get up and running again. With Starlink we get 140/15 average and only occasional drops during severe storms. But yes Musk is not a good person and we would switch to copper or fiber if it was available.
