You're a time traveler, what would you do if you went back in time to make the most of it?

I'd go back to the 1970s, the dawning of personal computer growth in it's beginnings. I'd take every single idea and patent from today and collect them all in a multiple series of binders. I would spend weeks holed up in some apartment, jotting notes, re-directing credits to me....

SeveralAnts,

I love the contrast between this and OP’s comment.

SeveralAnts,

I’d go waaaay back and try to find the Ancient Civillizations. Including and l predating the Sumerians. I’d love to see what they were like, how similar to us now, and how they were better.

I’d also like to spend a night in 80s goth scene London.

Also I’d wanna go back and see some BIG TREES.

SeveralAnts,

Am I the only one who does not want this? Seems like another oldish movie people are riding the stripey coat tails of. Just another project for pure profit and the least amount of work. Maybe I’m jaded ha.

SeveralAnts,

Really? That is kind of pleasing to hear to be honest. I only ever encountered echochamber comments any of the times I went on any political thread here, one sided anchoring and confirmation bias, so I stopped. I’m kind of happy to hear that there are multiple perspectives being discussed at all. Neat.

SeveralAnts,

This is such an absurd “article”. Picking out a couple of comments from the internet to literally brew conflict for clicks is not sound journalism.

You guys seem to love living in an echochamber. Lemmy really has become very unwelcoming to anyone centrally aligned or learning about the world.

4ish years ago when I bought a house I was convinced not to get a house inspection, would it be crazy to get one now just to make sure it's all good?

Was 25 and super nervous, so when the realtor was like “oh yeah they just check for basic stuff, but I looked around and it looks great” I was like “Oh okay, this is so astronomically expensive every penny saved is good…”...

SeveralAnts,

My husband said pretty much the same thing. We can only buy a house with VA assistance as well and it is so expensive here around his home town. Hopefully we can move interstate in the future. Around where he was stationed we could get a big old family house in a nice area for $100k less. For however long that lasts.

SeveralAnts,

Interesting to see them all!

SeveralAnts,

I mean… I wouldn’t mind seeing that. But it may lessen the impact of the owls. I appreciate your effort.

SeveralAnts,

Is that how fake mediums used to make “ectoplasm”?

SeveralAnts,

Cats and dogs all have different personalities. I’ve known cats that act bouncy and crave attention, who want to be inside, who wants to be outside, those who want both all the time and at the same time. I’ve also known smelly dirty cats who do not care where they go to the toilet or vomit. And I’ve known dogs who are like big lazy lions, and also neurotic little demons, some who are fastidious about their hygiene and others who get so excited they can’t hold their bladder.

I like both, and I’d have either, but I like a cat or dog who is clean, chill, intelligent and likes adventures as well as napping. Bonus if they don’t like other people much. Greyhounds are the fastest couch potatoes out there.

SeveralAnts,

Hey dude. That whole experience with the psychiatrist sounds wrong. Of course you have history. And that in no way qualifies or disqualifies you from getting a diagnosis. In saying that, I agree with db0 in that a diagnosis won’t necessarily help. You can absolutely look up strategies and routines, tips ect on how to improve your experiences and try applying the ones you like and see how it goes. Psychiatrists might diagnose you and then want to put you on medication because that is their job and how they get paid. The cognitive behavior change work is usually done with a psychologist, in groups and in your own time. There’s some great worksheets available online if you look around.

SeveralAnts,

Can anyone tell me why the bottom rock is so smooth? I imagine people come and sit on it and touch them both frequently, and that they are two rocks from different places but they each look very dissimilar. I guess what I am really asking, is the bottom rock so smooth because of the big boy topping it?

SeveralAnts,

Awesome. That would make sense.
