For example, I was told to search for !catsubs from Lemmy.world in order for Lemmy to fetch it, but searching that using Lemmy search doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong?
First you start with your instance then /c/ just like Reddit did with r/ it means you're looking for a community, then an @ to target another instance.
In this example I started at lemmy.ml told it I was looking for a community, then told it where the that community lives in this case lemmy.world
When launching a new Lemmy instance, your All feed will have very little populated. Also as a small instance, new communities that crop up may never make their way to you. LCS is a tool to seed communities, so your users have something in their All feed, right from the start. It tells your instance to pull the top communities...
This is really interesting. But how well does it actually work? I'm attempting a personal server on a Raspberry pi right now but the compiling is taking a huge amount of time.
It's been sitting here frozen like this for a really long time, hours actually. I'm trying to install Lemmy on my raspberry pi. The terminal hasn't moved at all in hours, but the mouse will nudge a little after like a minute of lag. Is it frozen in a broken way? Or should I just try and leave it for the night?
I wish I could. The whole computer is completely frozen! Just the mouse will nudge a little very very slowly. I don't think I can get another terminal open. And yes it's very slow hardware. It's a raspberry pi 3.
Cool. I was just looking it up. Very neat. I don't have the first clue how to go about it but I'll let the little raspberry try overnight. We'll see what happens.
I've been trying to setup a personal Lemmy instance for better control over federation, but I've run in to many error messages, most of I solved on my own but here's this one......
I wish I knew. It seems like iOS is getting a lot less support. It seems to be because of how apple does things. This is one of many reasons I'll always be on Android. Devs like Android more.
What Android app should I use to browse Lemmy?
I'm trying to stop using Reddit, but it having an app I know about makes it have quite an advantage....
How do I search for communities outside Lemmy.world from Lemmy.world from iOS?

Has anyone compiled Lemmy on a Raspberry pi?
I’m using a Raspberry pi 3 and attempting to compile Lemmy. It’s been frozen since about 10am eastern time. I’m hoping it’ll finish overnight....

If I toggle it on and off it'll actually stay off for a day or two but it always comes back. I'm on a Galaxy S20 Android 13 I believe.

I'm getting an error and I have no idea what it means or how to fix it.
