Me: fridge is broken

Hubs: my beer was still cold last night though

Me: picks up fridge butter and puts finger entirely through it fridge is broken.

Uhhh... we have a couple of expensive months coming up (first trip to the UK in 5 years to see family). If you were thinking of buying some pixel game assets for you or a friend, now would be a lovely time for that :meowtears: https://teaceratops.itch.io

Fills me full of joy when someone asks about a Lomi ‘composter’ on the gardening reddit, and the replies are all folks calling out Lomi for being an entirely useless, expensive bit of kit.

Don’t buy a Lomi, it’s just an expensive dehydrator, and adding that stuff uncomposted to your plants is going to cause mold. Yes, mold is essential in composting; but it’s not something you want on your houseplants yet. You want finished compost, that will actually do something for your plants.

I went to buy more soil for my plants and came back with more plants, and I don’t actually have enough pots for them, so I guess tomorrow I go out and buy more plant pots, but actually I will come home with more plants and oh no this is my millennial midlife crisis isn’t it?

Just broke another hairbrush with my hair :meowoh:

Curly hair is not arthritis friendly. The greyer it gets, the more difficult it is to get a hair brush through it, and the worse my arthritis gets, the harder it is to hold a hair brush. So, I guess now I just go around with a permanent birds nest.

(Please don’t suggest braids; I do not have the dexterity in my fingers anymore...)

Have made 3 big jars of strawberry jam for about $5 today, and feeling pretty good about it :meowHeadphones:

It’s like... $7+ for a jar of decent quality stuff that’s about 3/4 the size of my jars, where we are.

I think, the thing that annoys me the most about AirBnB, is that it made people think that the only option was ‘AirBnB or hotel’.

My dude, before airBnb, we would stay in hostels. Sometimes in dorms, sometimes in private rooms. We didn’t actually need airBnb.

“Until recently, visitors to New York basically had two options: hotel rooms or short-term rental platforms like Airbnb“

bike ride today :D

Except I completely forgot to make bread for sandwiches, or buy sandwich fillings...

However, due to Tiny Person learning about Japanese foods and wanting to try them, we have some Onigiri moulds and Sushi rice, so I’m going to attempt to make Onigiri to take with me.

...except I don’t have any of the suggested fillings to put in them.

...so I’m going to fill them with Brinjal Pickle in a sudo-Japanese-Indian-fusion-Onigiri.

Me dad is apparently being discharged from hospital today, because his recovery is going so well!! 🎉

They had warned us before that he could be in for 10 days and upto 3 weeks, and here he is, got his bags packed at 7 days 😆

If you are in the UK and get offered ‘Pre-hab’ before scheduled surgery, take it. Follow the plan and STICK TO IT. Dad’s been their star pupil, and it’s paid off (previously, dad was sedentary, and didn’t get out much). It really works.

Like, the kind of milestone that means we are one step closer for him to visit us one day :)

10 cases of measles in the Montréal area now, and a press conference about how that is likely to explode.

And here I am sat with a kid who got her MMR vaccine in India, and then another double dose in Canada, because the nurse ‘wanted to be sure’.

Vaccinate your kids you fucking weirdos.

Tiny person asked to play Cinema this morning and to actually watch a movie (Spider-Man), so while she was at school, I got the living room ready to turn it into a pretend cinema, complete with snacks, juice, and popcorn. Gave myself a little pat on the back for end-of-term fun surprise etc etc.

Gets home;

Me: You ready to watch Spider-Man in mum’s Cinema?

TP: Let’s watch Spider-Caleb.

Me: wai-

TP: it’s on YouTube.

Me: ...not Spider-man?

TP: no, you can watch Spider-Man later.

It’s freakishly warm for end of February, so I am making the most of it and going on my first of the year. 2 months early.

Won’t be any pics this time because my phone is out of memory. But, I’m going to try again with my action camera, if the batteries are still charged. Didn’t have much luck with that last year, but lessons have been learned, so maybe I’ll do better this year?

I didn’t think I had bought little seed packets to put my native flower seeds in, but then I remember finding them the other day - cannot bloody find them, and i’ve turned the house upside down.

So the question now is; did I dream the seed packets? And if so, why the hell am I dreaming about something so ridiculously mundane :meowupset:

I’m still looking for a good way to wax the canvas of my bags.

I want to use something completely free of synthetic materials and crude oil-derived materials. I was thinking of beeswax, because it’s renewable, sustainable, and smells good. Did a google, because I like to be sure that I’m not doing something stupid.

... turns out bears are a legit problem with using beeswax to wax canvas. Apparently they come looking for the honey. And I’m not even sure if this is real or a joke.

‘Study says arthritis not affected by weather’

Well, if it’s not the arthritis directly, weather does something to the people who have arthritis. Because the temperature has plummeted, and snow fell, and I’m in lots of pain 🙃

Considering how many diseases are confirmed by anecdotal evidence, because we don’t yet have the tests and imaging to screen for them; maybe we can accept that weather-induced pain in arthritis is in the same situation - something is happening, we just can’t see it

Build more separated and safer bike lanes, or come summer when a driver gets too close, and they have their window down, I’m going to lick them.

Don’t want to be licked by a cyclist you are pushing into the gutter? Advocate for more bike Infrastructure far, far away from roads.

I got one side of my canvas finished!

The other side needs the fastenings on, and the lining (at a later date..) and I need to wax the canvas on both, but I’m really proud of myself for actually getting this far!

(Please ignore the mess in the background, I have completely neglected the tidying to make this)

No headache today 🎉

I’m going to take it easy though, because I keep overdoing it on the ‘no headache’ days and then having a bad headache the next day.

Today, I really want to finalise on a pattern for my bike panniers. I bought the material, and then realised my original idea wouldn’t work with our set up, as tiny person would have no place for her feet to go on the bike, so, I really need to rethink it. I’ll go measure the bike up after this nice cup of tea.

It will never stop being funny to me, that the carry-over skill from 3D modelling is being able to eyeball a sewing pattern.

I’m sat here with a sewing machine and note pad scribbling Orthos of a ski helmet to figure out how to make a balaclava to go over it, which I will then plan out like a UV map but with parchment paper, test to see if it works over the ‘real life 3D model’, to then cut out and sew my fabric.

Just incase you think Gamedev doesn’t have any outside applications.

@Teaceratops@peoplemaking.games avatar

Right. No headache today, and the road is damp but not covered in snirt, so I feel a little confident about maybe riding the bike to the shops, rather than walking it.

If I can bike it, I can go to the fabric shop which has a sale on a bunch of fabrics I’ve had my eye on. I’ve got a cape, panniers, and possibly a few curtains to make. Also want to make a squid hat for meeee.

According to some people on reddit, stretched UVs now apparently means AI generated art, and I am here to tell you; stretched UVs have been a fact of life in 3D assets for games ever since we started using textures on 3D models that were placed using UV maps I mean DO YOU KNOW HOW WE USED TO DO THE SHINE ON GLASS PANES IN COMPUTER GAMES BEFORE WE HAD SHADERS!?

WE STRETCHED THE UV’S. DIAGONALLY.

This plant has popped up in my spinach pot, and I’ve been trying to identify it with my local plant guide, and nothing comes up. Google lens wasn’t any help either. And it’s definitely from no seed I’ve planted.

The closest thing I’ve seen that look like this are Radish (but I know it’s not, because the leaves feel wrong, and I’ve not had an allergic reaction from it), and Daikon (I don’t have daikon seeds, and I’ve never actually seen the leaves of one).

Anyone have any ideas?
