sitting here wondering if i've ever actually fully completed any final fantasy game and uhh

... i dont think i've finished literally a single one despite having played 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, crisis core, tactics, and tactics advance

i've gotten to the end in 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 but something always happened that stopped me from beating the final boss. my save corrupted in 5, idk wtf happened in 6, i recall getting frustrated in 7 and 8, and in 10 i decided to get all the ultimate weapons and quit playing in disgust after finally beating the stupid chocobo race

@eniko I think I finished 10 and 10-2, which is weird because they are the two I enjoyed the least.

I got to the Opera House in 6, the final battle in 7, disk 3 (before it broke) in 8, Memoria in 9 (god damn I was so sick of grinding), 12 my game got taken over by a friend, 13 I hated all the way through, 14 my subscription ran out, 15 my husband played it and we hated it equally. I think no more final fantasy for me.

@eniko it used to be Final Fantasy, but I haven’t played any JRPG in years, because I just do not have the time to sit and grind levels, and also I realised I actually really like pixel or RPGs with prerendered backgrounds, because I really struggle with 3D movement and battles on consoles (I’m fine with a keyboard and mouse)

@Teaceratops @eniko oh wait! I’d like to change my answer! Golden Sun! I just keep forgetting about it, as I’ve not played it in so long (hubs lost my cart almost 20 years ago now). Golden Sun, and Breath of Fire 2 (damn good music) are probably my 2 favourites - it’s just Final Fantasy is the one everyone knows, so it feels like someone is always talking about them.

yuzu kitsune tails, a purple haired fox girl, picks up samurai armor in a tower that's rapidly filling with lava. she jumps away from the rising lava and sticks her spear in the wall, doing a dashing twirl to get on top of it. she walks off the spear and into a new scene, fighting a ghost fox with armor and spear. it stabs and she jumps over, but is caught by a follow up stab. the ghost fox over extends and its ghostly powers wane, giving yuzu a chance to bop on its head

As society reverts to the 70s, I can feel myself getting angrier about bras.

If you need or like them, please carry on.

But with certain aerobic exceptions, I find bras useless at best. At worst, they’re painful. They’re also expensive and labour-consuming.

All that just because other people are weird about the fact of boobs and incapable of minding their own business.

@Cassandra I have recently taken to only wearing them outside the house. Upon entering the house, I immediately remove the torture device and fling it as far away from myself as I can.

Wonderbra do a non-wired, wide strapped one which is the only bra I can tolerate for a full day. I’m not a fan of how it looks, but usually I am dressed when wearing one, so it gets a pass.

I went to buy more soil for my plants and came back with more plants, and I don’t actually have enough pots for them, so I guess tomorrow I go out and buy more plant pots, but actually I will come home with more plants and oh no this is my millennial midlife crisis isn’t it?

Just broke another hairbrush with my hair ​:meowoh:​

Curly hair is not arthritis friendly. The greyer it gets, the more difficult it is to get a hair brush through it, and the worse my arthritis gets, the harder it is to hold a hair brush. So, I guess now I just go around with a permanent birds nest.

(Please don’t suggest braids; I do not have the dexterity in my fingers anymore...)

It’s like... $7+ for a jar of decent quality stuff that’s about 3/4 the size of my jars, where we are.

@Teaceratops sigh. So, the jam didn’t gel. I followed the instructions, thought it was too liquidy, but the book was adamant that it was supposed to be like that. So I guess I can either pop the lids, cook down, and re-can, OR, or I can leave it as it is, and now I have strawberry syrup for icecream this summer, which actually sounds pretty great actually. You know... I could probably also use this to make milkshakes and slushes in a pinch too... maybe I should just leave it as is and make more

@eniko I don’t know if this will help you, but I managed to start to chip away at that feeling by reminding myself that even a roomba needs to go back to its charging dock to rest, and that I should at least treat myself the same as a roomba and allow myself that recharge time to sit and do ‘nothing’.

You are not ‘doing nothing’, you need to recharge. And sometimes watching youtube/TV is the way you need to do it. This is not a bad thing. There will be a day when you have energy again.

I think, the thing that annoys me the most about AirBnB, is that it made people think that the only option was ‘AirBnB or hotel’.

My dude, before airBnb, we would stay in hostels. Sometimes in dorms, sometimes in private rooms. We didn’t actually need airBnb.

@Teaceratops I even just checked hostelworld.com, which is the site I used to use to find a nice hostel; and they are cheap, they are nice, and there are private rooms for a fraction of the price of hotel rooms in that article.

AirBnb is a con. It makes you think that they are the only affordable option - and really, is it really that much scarier to stay in a regulated hostel that you’ve never been to, or some complete stranger’s house/investment that you have never been to?

Spice racks are adorable. Your wee lil rack can store 16 containers? That's so cute. Anyway this is what a spice rack looks like for people who cook a lot

@eniko I go for the bags - more spice. My spice cupboard is so ridiculously full of opened bags of spice, I’ve had to start putting them in baskets in groups that make some kind of sense.
My kitchen has this weird kind of spice draw I don’t use, because it’s too small.
I’ve even started growing some herbs and spices, because I need MOER! My turmeric plant’s leaves are starting to die back, so I should have fresh turmeric soon!

In the fucking one hour I left the front door unbolted in case the locksmith showed up, people have been ripping it open and trying to deliver shit to other apartments.

Why is this considered normal? Do other people have problems with deliverymen just randomly opening front doors?

@Craigp yes!! We used to live in a condo, that had a door to the main stairwell (which all residents used) and a side door that went directly into the apartment. Guess which one people used to randomly open?

I stuck a scribbled sign on the inside of the door to say it’s not the main door (which helped), and it’s still there 4 years later, and we haven’t lived there in years.

@eniko I don’t think there is a single place unaffected by climate change now.

This winter was so mild for us, so it was damp and wet the entire time - sent my headaches into overdrive. From Xmas until end of March, I was getting headaches for about 4-5 days out of a week. Goddamn nightmarish. Got my fingers crossed Summer is going to be better.

I hope you get some relief soon 💜

@eniko in winter? Not much, because it’s all imported, gross quality, and ridiculously expensive. I end up dehydrating a lot of summer foods, because it tastes a bit better and is cheaper.

In the warmer months? About 95% of my diet is fresh fruits and vegetables.

I always feel it’s mean when the news starts throwing up articles about how we ‘don’t eat enough vegetables’ when it’s the end of winter.

@eniko Green is weed. At least, that’s the word we used to use. But I come from a place where money was blue for little money, double that and it’s orange, double it again and it’s purple, and then a £50 was red.

Except I completely forgot to make bread for sandwiches, or buy sandwich fillings...

However, due to Tiny Person learning about Japanese foods and wanting to try them, we have some Onigiri moulds and Sushi rice, so I’m going to attempt to make Onigiri to take with me.

...except I don’t have any of the suggested fillings to put in them.

...so I’m going to fill them with Brinjal Pickle in a sudo-Japanese-Indian-fusion-Onigiri.

@Teaceratops As far as I know, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work. Brinjal pickle (spicy aubergine pickle) is eaten with rice. Onigiri is rice ball. Portable rice snack sounds good.

I have Paneer too... maybe I could put seared paneer and brinjal pickle in them....?

@eniko i find the flavour rounds out more with a splash of apple juice. I go through phases of drinking vast amounts of it, because it helps a teeny bit with my pain, but then the grass-straw taste starts getting to me to the point I can’t stand it for 6 months.

Me dad is apparently being discharged from hospital today, because his recovery is going so well!! 🎉

They had warned us before that he could be in for 10 days and upto 3 weeks, and here he is, got his bags packed at 7 days 😆

If you are in the UK and get offered ‘Pre-hab’ before scheduled surgery, take it. Follow the plan and STICK TO IT. Dad’s been their star pupil, and it’s paid off (previously, dad was sedentary, and didn’t get out much). It really works.
