News adjacent? Seems like we’re getting more and more stories that are interesting but lean towards human interest and opinion pieces rather than real news.
First i go to vote411 (.org i think). It’s a website from the league of women voters that asks each candidate the same questions. Sometimes candidates don’t answer or are so vague that their answers are useless. Then i look to see who the local newspaper is endorsing. When both of those are unsuccessful, i find the hateful group (in Texas it’s the true Texas project), see who they endorse, and vote opposite.

New cat in a room for 2-3 days. That room happened to have a window, which was nice. We put one of old cats beds in there.

Old cat in a room for a couple of days while new cat explored the house. Left the old cat/new cat bed in there. Fed them on either side of the door. They started pawing under the door without hissing. That’s when we opened it.
When you find out, please please let me know. I have three cats, five litter boxes, and still everyday the one shits on the floor beside the box. I’m actually happy to clean up the poop because about every third day she also pees beside the box which is much worse.

When people come in they use an app and get on a list for an appointment to hear their case months/years in the future. One of my school kids (with pretty severe physical disabilities) came into Texas with parents and grandparents. They found a house to rent and signed a lease, with no idea when or where they might get an appointment. The house burned down and they lost everything. People at school donated clothes and furniture and lots of things to help them get set up again. 6 months later they got notice that their appointment was scheduled in New York. They packed the kid’s wheelchair and everything else they could carry into 2 mini vans and moved to New York with no support. It’s a system that sets people up for failure.
Both can be true. There are many people who barely (or don’t) make enough to survive. There are also many people who spend money frivolously and then complain that they’re broke because of the economy.
