    @robotwig Yep and that figure looks as weird as the CGI young Hamill they used in the show. 😁

    @robotwig No, No, No, I love your work, it wasn't meant as a slight against you at all.

    I was saying that I think the CGI version in the show wasn't great at all.

    @robotwig It was never about your work. Sorry.

    My ★★★½ review of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/6yfcBx

    UKFilmNerd,
    @UKFilmNerd@mastodon.me.uk avatar

    @hobbitswife yeah, I read a review of the third film somewhere and they said it was basically a setup for the final film.

    And of course, we have the prequel as well.

    Hopefully they're no more actual Hunger Games to watch as I think that idea couldn't be used again. Fingers crossed it's all about the revolution. But you already know. 😆

    Back in the 90s, when I bought the first Kerrang! compilation album, it contained a song called Control by Puddle of Mudd.

    I took my boom box to Reading festival that year, and we used to sing that song out loud as it has a lyric that reads, “I love the way you smack my ass”

    I bought their album based on that one song and really enjoyed it.

    Now, over twenty years later, I'm listening to the rest of their work.

    Very agreeable grunge.

    Now, I've finished importing my film lists to coincide with my blog reviews, my last four watched is looking normal again!

    Brexit, harder to import/export. Cost of food going up.
    Can't get a GP appointment.
    Can't get a dentist appointment
    NHS on verge of collapse.
    Raw sewage in our rivers, lakes, and seas.
    Cost of living crisis.
    etc.

    But no, it's all about immigrants, trans people and a labour woman who possibly didn't pay a £1.5k tax bill over ten years ago.

    [screams internally] get them out!

    The real problem now is that Starmer will likely become Prime Minister and everyone will expect him to fix things overnight, which won't be possible.

    “A leading Tory Brexiteer says an election now would be “madness”. Why go when the Conservatives are 20 points behind in the polls, goes the thinking.”"

    Well, seeing as you guys have royally fucked over the country, mainly for your own profit, and nothing works and is about to collapse, what do you think you could possibly do in six months to turn around 14 years of destruction?

    Had to get one of the wife's PC building friends over to figure out why we couldn't get the PC working.

    Long, long story short. My son ordered the AIO cooler with RGB as the plain one wasn't available. The new motherboard has 12v RGB, the cooler uses 5v.

    Also the CPU was running at 80°c before the friend found a bios setting to run the cooler properly.

    All working but no RGB. But I have found a 12v to 5v adapter on Amazon, need to see if my son is bothered about Flashy lights.

    UKFilmNerd,
    @UKFilmNerd@mastodon.me.uk avatar

    Oh bollox, now the CPU is running at 80°c again.

    It's too late now. I'll look in the morning.

    UKFilmNerd,
    @UKFilmNerd@mastodon.me.uk avatar

    @mforester The two fans on the cooler are on a 'y' cable and plugged into the CPU_FAN header, so the motherboard can control their speed.

    The power to the pump is plugged into the controller box on the back of the motherboard, so it shouldn't be speed controlled.

    The installation instructions are useless because they reference two header points on the motherboard but don't label them.

    UKFilmNerd,
    @UKFilmNerd@mastodon.me.uk avatar

    @mforester I think I have.

    If anyone else is reading this. 😊

    The cpu_fan header is set to PWM to control the cooler fan speeds.

    I just checked the NZXT CAM software that controls other fans and RGB. I've set that to Performance mode on the pump so it's at full power all the time.

    I think that got it. 🤞

    It's quite disconcerting trying to get things working and watching the CPU temp rising up to 80°c!

    Good morning my mastodonian friends, it's Saturday!

    Right, taking the youngest swimming in an hour, then I plan on using the rest of the day to build my Lego ECTO1.

    No Letterboxd Friday from me as the recent activity includes film entries you've tinkered with. I've spent the last week getting my profile up to date with all my reviews.

    Also, my blog received new reviews of Titan A.E., Rebel Moon: The Scargiver and Beowulf & Grendel. Perhaps something to accompany your morning coffee. 😊

    Oh.

    A speed awareness course.

    @CatherineFlick I learned a couple of new things today as well. Apart from that, it is all a bit of commen sense.

    The GameBoy had some amazing games. 🥰
    I wasn't quite ready to let this system go, after speeding through Mario Land 2. So I played SML 1 too (first try, no savestates, 35 minutes) and I'm now replaying . I forgot how clever the game is at showing what you can do and how it keeps adding new things all the way until the end. I'm now at the second to last stage and I still haven't reached the "let's get this over with" state. 😁

    UKFilmNerd,
    @UKFilmNerd@mastodon.me.uk avatar

    @mforester my sister had a Gameboy and I only remember two games. Tetris.Duh! The other was a TMNT game which I really enjoyed.

    I remember showing someone at school how to play some parts of the game on his Gameboy and ended up completing the game during the lunch break.

    Sat down with Hubbie and the kids for a nice Sunday afternoon tea in the sun.

    Next door struck up their strimmer then cut their grass! Talk about timing!

    (They always cut it in the middle of the day in the sun. I was always told this is a big no-no and it can kill the grass???)

    UKFilmNerd,
    @UKFilmNerd@mastodon.me.uk avatar

    @hobbitswife I love the smell of cut grass, it always reminds me of my dad cutting the lawn with his boxy old red and black, black and decker mower.

    So imagine the conflict when I learnt that the cut grass smell is produced by the grass because it's suffered dangerous trauma and it's trying to heal itself. 😬

    I have 150 films in an Excel list. Is there any easy way I can use this to download the poster for each?

    Otherwise, making my film review list more beautiful is going to be rather tedious.

    Unless anyone has a suggestion how to make this page more user-friendly / pretty?

    I am constricted to the confines of a free WordPress account.
