I mean they do have one good thing going for them: you can separate the art from the more controversial artists, because you know for sure the artist isn’t getting a damn thing from spotify

If housing is a single point of failure for the economy, the economy has already failed.

If by “save”, you mean have payment processors pull out, I guess so?

The thing is that no matter who they pick as a ghost writer… it’s going to be noticeably too coherent or thought out to really be him. His base won’t buy it as easily.

Donors raise $233,000 to give US cart pusher, 90, chance at retirement (www.theguardian.com)

Thousands of people have donated about a quarter of a million dollars to a 90-year-old US air force veteran who has been financially supporting himself by pushing shopping carts at a grocery store in sweltering Louisiana – and now has the option of retiring if he wants thanks to the strangers’ generosity....

I remember a post showing how to contact your representative, immediately followed by instructions for hiring a stripper-gram. I feel like glitter would be a great option for annoying politicians. That and gummy-dicks.

Take your current yearly salary, multiply it by however many years you expect to live after retirement + let’s say… 10% on top for inflation, + another 10 for medical expenses. Is that number above, or below, $10M? Retirement is fucking expensive and only going up in cost.

Towards the end, Medicare/medicaid/whatever takes the house too if you don’t plan ahead, and no doubt they’ll close the “loopholes” for planning ahead too.

Woooo, FERS (assuming US). Scary part is if you started 20 years ago you were paying LESS into it. It’s 4.4% now.

He Made a PowerPoint on Mothers Starving in Gaza. Then He Lost His Government Job. (theintercept.com)

Alexander Smith’s PowerPoint presentation doesn’t appear designed to court controversy. The slides, focused on declining maternal health in Gaza, cite public health data from the United Nations and World Health Organization. His employer, the U.S. Agency for International Development, had selected him to share it at the...

Outside of leave accrual (which is still inferior compared to the EU), benefits and pay for the average government worker aren’t really any better at this point. Plenty of supervisors pulling 100-150K+, but that usually also includes having to live in high cost of living areas like DC.

Oof, that is a very good point. The retirement benefits are huuuuge. That said, I have very little trust that these benefits will not be whittled away to nothing by the time I qualify for them.

If they’re still there by the time i hit retirement age (65 ish now, might be higher later), awesome, but I’m not going to make plans based on that assumption.

Dont do that, you WILL be found put. IT will be asked to identify who printed it off, it’s not hard to do with a printer.

Use a library printer if you’re gonna do this.

I feel old. It wasnt just dev mode, Many games legit just had codes you could enter in a menu to unlock special features/modes/weapons temporarily. Hell in pokemon Gen 3 through Gen 5(?) That was how you unlocked the mystery gift menu. “Everybody happy wireless/WIFI connection”.

Hah! Get baited, now I feel younger /s

I miss fun stuff like showing off cheatcodes to friends in couch games. And couch games in general. And friends. ☹️

Agreed, teachers there were assholes. I lost some souvenirs from my childhood i can’t get back, to a shithead math teacher who enjoyed making you use perfect grammer/phrasing to ask for things back (may i vs can i); if you didn’t he’d hold onto it longer or indefinitely. All because I was “being distracting” by using them as a fidget toy.

Not to give the sovcit nut any credit, but it is kinda bullshit cops can just see a stationary vehicle in someone’s driveway, without plates, and seize it.

Out in a public parking lot or actively driving I get, but they’re seriously just gonna take somebodies project car? Right out in front of their home?

Sovcit here was probably caught driving it around and followed home.
