I occasionally see those types of ads in subs downloaded through the Plex UI, but usually it’s in an intro or at the end. Haven’t seen them in the middle of a dialogue yet.
A few days ago I shared some news that the Eurovision song from Israel would be named “Your land is mine now” to later realize it was from an onion kind of website, lol....
About 20 years ago I was so outraged by Bonsai Kitten that I asked a friend’s mom to help me write letters to ISPs and law enforcement to try to get it taken down.
It was a site with pictures of cats in glass jars, but it had very graphic details about how they supposedly kept cats alive in jars and grew them into weird shapes… I still think it’s pretty tasteless, but it was clearly someone’s idea of satire. It felt like a big deal back then, but these days it would be nothing more than a bad meme.
Donald Trump has now denied ever having read Adolf Hitler’s 1925 memoir-manifesto Mein Kampf as he faces a firestorm over his recent run of anti-immigrant comments, which have been likened to the Nazi leader’s infamous “blood and soil” rhetoric....
It works most of the time, and they sort of addressed the main complaint I saw, which was with the infamy system. Definitely still has some major problems, but a lot of the hate is pretty overblown.
I mean… Hopefully it doesn’t go on so long that anyone loses their home over it, but not being able to pay your mortgage or access your money is a pretty big deal.
Not surprising. Their free AI models on Bing are great, but GPT4 is limited to 5 messages before you have to start a new topic, and DALL-E throttles heavily once you run out of credits that reset weekly… Or you can buy more uses with the daily points you earn from doing quizzes and such on Bing. The bar is set pretty low.
Looking at all the features that older phones uses to have compared to newer ones, I never hear anyone talk about the removal of the notification LED. I personally really liked that feature, being able to see if I got an email, a text or missed a call without turning on my phone was awesome. My Samsung note 8 had this feature,...
I think the problem that notification LEDs were designed to solve is just solved in other ways now, notably smart watches or the Always-On Display for OLED devices. Both consume more power than a notification LED would, but they also don’t require a dedicated physical space on the phone.
From the World of Tanks wiki page for the Tiger P (Porsche variant), so take this with a grain of salt, but:
On May 26, 1941, Adolf Hitler ordered Ferdinand Porsche and the Henschel company to develop prototypes of a new heavy tank. The prototypes were shown to the Führer on April 20, 1942. Manufacturing began, but the production run was cut short due to the complexity of the tank’s drive and control systems, and a shortage of the required copper. Later, 90 produced hulls were converted into Ferdinand tank destroyers.
It’s been a terrible launch and there are still major issues that need fixing. Too little content, bad progression system, bad matchmaking system, mostly boring skill tree for loud… But I’m still having a lot of fun with it despite all of that. I wanted more out of a finished game, but at least most of the heists that it shipped with are interesting and fun. 99 Boxes can go to hell.

Well… It’s at least playable now, but there are still bugs with matchmaking. Sometimes when you ready up, it locks you in but still shows you as “Not ready.” The only way to continue at that point is to leave, or for everyone to wait the 5 minutes for the game to start.
Also, full lobbies occasionally just empty out during the ready countdown and I end up stuck in a solo game. Hard to tell if a lot of people regularly leave at the last second, or if that’s another bug.
this can't be real. is it? (lemmy.ml)
