If I had to guess, it’s because it’s a click bait headline that offers nothing useful to people until they’ve committed to watching a video

“Try this…” where “this” is intentionally vague until you click on the link is standard clickbait tactics…

So, when I first saw this headline, my process went like this

“Stuttering? I’ve got stuttering when I’m under Wayland. Is this link about nvidia stuff, which I’m already across or some other thing?”

“Hmm, no more context in the headline. Oh, and it’s a video link, so I can’t even click on the link to get a quick summary to know if it’s relevant to me. I don’t want to watch the video if it’s not relevant to me”

And that was the end of it. I never bothered to click on it.

If you’re not on lemmy world, but the poster/community that you’re looking at is on lemmy.world, that could be your answer. Due to the way lemmy currently processes federated content, lemmy.world is big enough that many other instances aren’t able to process lemmy.world messages as fast as it produces them, meaning that the smaller instances fall ever further behind lemmy.world

Are there any updates on the ongoing federation delays with lemmy.world?

I know there’s been a few posts about this before, but it’s been a month since the last one and it’s still ongoing. It doesn’t seem that any of the LW admins responded to Zag’s post on their help community, and the last response from lodion/Nath I’m aware of was from 4 months ago when there were outright federation...

The next milestone release of lemmy is scheduled to include parallel processing per instance for incoming activities, which should resolve the issue.

I don’t know what the timeframe on that is though

Samsung watch 6 HR monitoring

I have a Samsung watch 6. The main reason I bought it is for running so I can log strava with HR monitoring and listen to podcasts. Well after a few runs logged, the HR monitor on the watch is really quite terrible. Yes I know all about the watch positioning on the wrist. It has massive gaps in HR logging and just blinks while...

I had a garmin strap laying around from when I was using a garmin, but the watch didn’t support ANT+ devices, so that didn’t work. I didn’t have a bluetooth one to test

Unfortunately, it was this sort of thing that ended up with my Samsung watch sitting in a drawer, and me going back to Garmin :\

How are you setting them to different values in the first place?

I’ve got another photo of a crested spoonbill in breeding plumage! Very regal :)

Learning a new language. I normally pick things up pretty quickly, but learning a new language has been a slow slow process, but worth every second :)

Basically, jobs are processed in a serial fashion, and each job involves several steps of back and forth communication between the two instances to complete. Add in around the globe latency, and new jobs arrive faster than old jobs can be cleared out of the queue.

Yep! The male becomes a brilliant blue when he’s got breeding plumage on!

Yes you do, which they explicitly and deliberately make next to impossible to access through legitimate channels
