@sacchan the market i go to has an ugly underwear stall, including a pair of knickers the size of a small city state with "BIG is BEAUTIFUL" emblazoned across the front, nobody has ever bought them in all the years i've been visiting the market

    This is why is worth keeping - I tuned into using an 18m wire antenna run around the outside of the building, a 330 uH inductor and a military surplus CV7130 (OA91) germanium (I had to order these from a place near Brighton selling NOS vintage components, diodes sold on Amazon as "Germanium" didn't work). The output of the detector diode is fed into the line in of a desktop PC (the metal case of which also provide the earth for the receiver)

    2 component AM crystal radio circuit on breadboard, just an inductor and diode (the audio output is fed to the a PC line in, and the frame of the desktop PC also provides earth for the receiver)

    @vfrmedia there's no Caroline here, but i can see a 400kW MW transmitter out of the window, so these types of very simple crystal sets work amazingly well here for picking up the two remaining stations from that site (@BBC5Live and TalkSport)

    other than that, MW is very empty, there used to be a Bradford Asian station on 1413 but it's gone, all the BBC locals are gone, and the local commercial stations on 1278/1530 are gone
