Speaking of coding “one liners” Myrmecia pilosula is an ant with just two chromosomes— this is kind of strange in the animal kingdom and really even for ants who may have up to 40– worse since the males are haploid… these poor simple boys have just one chromosome! Even more bizarre other similar species have many more chromosomes? what’s up with this?

If I had a car I'd get those family silhouette stickers. I'd have a man, a woman, a cat and then 3,489 ant stickers.

    Student making me cry with a damn entomology paper. He talked about how, as his identity got squashed growing up, he also buried his love of bugs and had them hibernate. As he was exposed to queer culture and became able to articulate his identity as trans, he also began delving back into bugs, and embracing other aspects of himself once considered "weird."
