ChatGPT has tokenized versions of knitting patterns scraped from the internet that it can attempt to reconfigure into something resembling a knitting pattern. I don’t think it has the ability to keep track of the number of stitches you have open or the knowledge of how different stitches will interact and build on each other. You will likely have to make corrections or modifications.

I saw someone generate a crochet pattern that they were able to actually create, and it was just a little sphere with nubs coming off of it. I think this it might be a fun experiment, but I would not expect anything impressive.

andros_rex,

Yeah, for sure! I’ve done a couple of attempts with toy programs to randomly generate lace patterns, which is a little similar and was really fun. As long as you go into it not expecting it to be perfect or even match what your prompt was, I bet you could have a lot of fun!

How many pot smokers do you think she sent to prison as a DA?

And all those teenage “super predators” that Joe, Jack and Bill sent to prison

andros_rex,

I’m trans and gay. A real man only needs sed and awk.

andros_rex,

Transphobic gay men are sadly common. I think some of them think that getting rid of us will make it easier for them to be accepted.

There’s a lot of gross and uncomfortable discourse about the way cis gay men treat trans gay men as well. My boyfriend and I were talking about some nasty shit that went down on Survivor…

andros_rex, (edited )

No need for alacritty. Taking my class notes in sed on a shitty reconstituted Chromebook running bare Linux turned me into the man I am today. Big tech has convinced you that you need things like GPUs or DEs - we’ve been fooled into thinking that we need Xwindows or Wayland. Wake up sheeple!

andros_rex,

I did have sex with a man this morning, yes.

What's stopping people who lash out at the world from going after corporations?

Obviously violence isn’t ever the answer but I’m just curious, when people go nuts and decide to take life and cause terror, what makes their decision to attack something like say a school or a church/mosque, a sporting event. As far as I see it in this day and age the biggest stressors in our society are corporations yet...

andros_rex,

The wealthy assholes who destroy our planet and lives can afford to protect themselves. The other poor schmucks who are getting fucked over too can’t.

How would you get revenge against Amazon? Are you going after Bezos, who is probably on a private island getting sucked off right now? Are you going after the faceless corporate types that work in a well protected office building in a city you can’t afford to live in?

The greatest invention of late stage capitalism is that inaccessibility. On a smaller, less violent scale, you’re ultimately going to cuss out the underpaid customer service rep for the shitty store policy, not the wealthy asshole who made the policy.

That woman has already been caught spreading fake/photoshopped shit multiple times. The TikTok conspiracy is that it’s a coverup for a chemical spill at a factory that Fruit of the Loom didn’t even own at the time.

Detroit Free Press

andros_rex, (edited )

That’s not true. That comes from a TikTok which was complete horseshit. They didn’t own that factory at the time.

andros_rex,

No. That is a conspiracy theory being spread on TikTok. They did not own the factory that poisoned the town. They bought it afterwards. Even the woman who made that TikTok later issued a correction.

andros_rex,

Did you not watch her later TikTok where she admitted that FoL did not even own that factory at the time she was claiming? TikTok can be a very useful resource, but like everything we need to use critical thinking.

andros_rex,
andros_rex,

This isn’t new - it’s the case in multiple states and has been for a while. The justification is that usually the husband is assumed to be the “father” for the purpose of the birth certificate. It’s bullshit but Y’all’queda has been running Missouri for a loooong time

It wasn't just the goblins — is J.K. Rowling doing Holocaust denial now? (forward.com)

The most famous forms of Holocaust denial and revisionism tend to focus on Jews, casting doubt, for example, on how many were exterminated in the camps. But denying the impact the Nazis had on the other groups they targeted, including queer and trans people, disabled people and Romani people, is still Holocaust denial. Maybe...

andros_rex,

Yeah, 1-4 are fun “monster of the week” kids book with worldbuilding that falls apart if you look at it too much. 5-7 have “George Lucas” syndrome - editors couldn’t say “no” anymore. The Horcruxes and the Deathly Hallows were clearly last minute ass pulls.

Idk I read a lot of similar quality YA when I was a child. I don’t get the obsession.

andros_rex,

IMHO, it was an elevator ride that killed r/atheism…

andros_rex,

The best thing about those ads is that they’re mostly “AI” generated. You know none of the people making those ads would actually wash the feet of a queer person.

andros_rex, (edited )

Reddit from the beginning had bot accounts to artificially inflate its number of users.

andros_rex,

Why has that sponge been shilled so heavily? I see it being marketed on TikTok of all places…

andros_rex,

Rebecca Watson had some guy proposition in her in an elevator at a conference, felt uncomfortable and talked about it during the conference. This blew up the internet atheist/skeptic community around 2011 or so, led to a big split. “Elevatorgate”

andros_rex,

That was a killing blow + “the professional quote maker.”

But it was a good place for some decent discussion back in the day. I learned enough biology from arguing with creationists there + youtube to test out of college biology….

Menstruation cycle tracking app breached users' privacy, B.C. class-action lawsuit alleges (bc.ctvnews.ca)

VANCOUVER - A British Columbia Supreme Court judge says a class-action lawsuit can move forward over alleged privacy breaches against a company that made an app to track users’ menstrual and fertility cycles. The ruling published online Friday says the action against Flo Health Inc. alleges the company shared users’ highly...

andros_rex,

I used these kinds of apps when I was a teenager. I could not keep up with a calendar - I tried but my cycles were too irregular to be predictable based on the calculations I could find in books and the internet. I’m transgender and found the entire experience unpleasant in a fairly intense way.

Those kinds of apps helped me immensely. Most of them offer some sort of discreet icon or password system - my parents were the type to read my diary/calendars. My periods are all over the place, and I was able to safely log a pattern in related pain/duration/quantity… most of them included links to places to find medical information. I found one that wasn’t pastel pink and just treated me like a person keeping track of their medical statistics. I got to feel neutral about a part of my body which I despised.

The problem is not that people are naive enough to hand over the information to a third party they can not trust. The problem is the paucity of information and resources for menstrual health. Periods are complicated and scary. When you’re a teenager, you’re not worried about data security - you’re worried about trying to make sure you know when your next cycle will start so that you don’t experience the hell that is bleeding through your pants in math class.

andros_rex,

It’s really hard to find a car to buy that doesn’t use touch screens - they slap them on everything. Car quality in general has declined tbh - my modern Honda Civic was a fucking lemon.

andros_rex,

I really don’t understand heterosexual people that are like this. I’m a gay dude. I’m attracted to dudes, I have lots of gay dudes that are platonic friends. It’s possible to be friends with people without boning them lol.

andros_rex,

Yes, we all have the choice to go rogue, drive to the middle of nowhere with nothing but a tent, bags of lentils and rice, some other basic supplies. You need to find a place remote enough to be not harassed by forest rangers, forgo all medical care except that you can provide yourself, research enough to realistically subsist on nothing but the species indigenous to the nearest possible location one could do this. I think for any of US based folks - maybe Alaska?

I genuinely would enjoy hearing a good faith explanation of how one can do this. I fucking loved reading /k/ shit lol.
