Hi there @ashleykolodziej 👋

I'd like to give a heads-up to movement where I'm involved and plan to revive the notion of or Social experience design, esp. for the .

Your toot triggered a nice discussion in the repo: https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fediverse-ideas/issues/44

So much chatter on is either deeply technical or app-specific. The field of SX may offer a more holistic and inclusive perspective, focus on methods, guidance and best-practices.

ashleykolodziej,

@smallcircles I’d love that! Sounds like a great idea 😁

I would love a manager with integration. Like imagine how cool it would be to post your recipes, follow others, comment on each other’s recipes, and even fork/modify recipes and see that relationship from the original recipe. You could have instances focused on cuisine, dietary restriction, cooking method, zero waste, or even your own if you’re a blog… does this exist already? I really want it to exist.

ashleykolodziej,

@airfive I learn best by example and experimentation, so I started by adding Webmentions to my personal site: http://ashleykolodziej.com/add-webmentions-to-static-site/ I haven’t gotten much past that, but even doing that simple thing gave me a much better understanding of the basics. Not sure where you’re starting from, but if it was basically 0 like me, that might be a starting point.

ashleykolodziej,

@airfive Other than that, I always find poking around at other existing codebases helpful. I was looking at BookWyrm today because it has a concept of reviews too, and I wondered how they structured that data for ActivityPub. My languages are HTML/CSS/JS, so when I look at anything that looks remotely like a JSON object, it feels like home to me. :)

ashleykolodziej,

@airfive I also just learned about https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fediverse-ideas, which has a way higher level of technical discussion than I fully understand - but even if I don’t fully understand everything that’s going on there, I’m able to follow some of the discussion, and it helps me think about how app interoperability works on the Fediverse.

Me, a web design and development professor reviewing the midterm material: does anyone remember why it’s best practice to avoid using the ID selector?
