I think it's kind of a disaster that the peer-reviewed research on generative AI is locked up behind paywalls whereas the hype and sales pitches and nonsense is freely available and flooding all information channels.

It's funny, I've always struggled with 'imposter syndrome' and wanting to always be/do better, know/learn more, and actually do something constructive.

But the more I learn, the more experience I get, it's still getting harder for me to balance the feeling of inadequacy and ambitions

@svelmoe it is a real struggle. I’m the same way. The more we learn, the more we realize that there is still so much we do not know.

Best I’ve been able to do is figure out which things I want to focus on for myself, and then surround myself with people who complement my skills. Then I can be my best without needing to know everything. Lean on the team.

But I don’t have a full answer. It’s a struggle

Here's the thing. My kids' posts news updates to . I don't want to be on . I'm on the , and happy to be here.

I'm already using @birb for my reader here on Fediverse. Great.

I know Facebook is Facebook, and they won't give me sh*t unless I hand over my data, but I'm hoping I can subscribe to a the Facebook page through RSS or through some service that uses Facebook's API to turn it into RSS..

Anyone heard of such a thing?

I like Mastodon... I read a lot, a reply a little, boost occasionally, but rarely post.

So I'm going to try posting more, as a 'don't start reading Mastodon until you've posted something' incentive to try to open up a bit to the community.

No doubt there will be a few 'posting to unlock' lame-ass posts, but we'll see how it goes. I don't have many followers to spam anyways 😅

Something that is funny (read: not funny at all) to me as a front-end engineer who is on the front-end side of the spectrum is that anytime I've done or talked about promo papers, the one thing that is always brought up is "make sure you can show your ops work". Yet we have countless L6 engineers who don't know how to write CSS effectively or know anything about creating accessible UIs or using things like grid and new CSS methods to make layouts. That's never a barrier to them getting promoted.

@khalidabuhakmeh I think tis a sentiment that is echoed around people with widely applicable skillsets. There is so much we could be doing. And as soon as you start doing something and doing it well, you should also be leading and training others to also do the thing while still doing the thing yourself.
And all of a sudden, there is a tug of war between actually doing the thing and talking about doing the thing.

Eventually, you give up and only talk about the thing. Now u be Developer Advocate

@matthiasott it was a good reminder. I got myself stuck on writing, because I don’t have an immediate topic to go into detail with. Should rather focus on what is top of mind, and just write some of those shotty first drafts. I’m sure something interesting will come out of it ❤️
