Which oof sure, being a housespouse is often way harder and more responsibility than people would think (even the ones who benefit from it) … but damn being a housewife in the 50s? You know how much harder it was to cook back then?! Do laundry or vacuum or probably literally any household chore is so much easier and faster than today. Hell, even taking out the trash is easier not having to drag Oscar’s heavy ass house to the curb.

Your “opponent” will see it that way and have their gaurd up, only listening to what to say to try to disprove it rather than hearing what you say. Your job is to change that, so they actually find themselves having a conversation. Asking questions, giving more level but still emotional arguments (not sensationalized like this(

It sounds like he is just whining but the underlying message is there may be more violence if he is prosecuted. He is setting up a threat of violence. “They are going to do what they did since the beginning” is a threat. What did they do in the beginning??? Hmm oh idk unite the right rally and all that jazz. And bookends with one of the most significant moments in American history where the president encouraged and allowed an insurrection to take place for 6 fucking hours while ignoring pleas from his staff, family, legal counsel, and fellow government officials particularly his closest.

But you have to be able to have enough context and a depressingly low bar of critical thinking skills to read between the lines in the article, especially when the headline primes you for what another nutty thing he says and then the reader just decides if they think it is a bad thing to say or not. There are fantastic ways to politely and without any blame making people feel stupid enough to shut up, or make them backpedal and change the subject. Knowing your audience helps too, who else is there and what their politics are. I don’t think that comes naturally to anyone really though. Not most.

Okay so as a person who can be very social, talkative, and genuinely enjoys interactions with people.

I am first an introvert. And that means there is a very decent chance any social outings can suddenly sound like a dreadful experience regardless of the company because you just do not have it in you to be interesting to them or interested in them. You just wake up and are like… nah, not happening. Sure you made a commitment and will push through but that is why we are delighted when the event itself is canceled and we don’t have to force ourselves or make an excuse.
