I was somewhere private and fancy for lunch today. One of the older members had a nice old bottle of wine he had brought along. He was celebrating the Trump conviction with his friends. Solidarity from #Australia

Spotted this on the book of faces. Wish I had thought of this. Oxygen free copper of course.

The Streisand Effect is getting a workout this month: SMH “Bangkok officials block Australian patient from criticising Singapore Airlines
In extraordinary scenes, staff surrounded an injured Australian from flight 321 in a hospital cafe when it became apparent he was about to talk to the media.”

Oh for goodness sake the homes mostly being built are unaffordable for all the people that need housing. The only way we can address the housing crisis is to overrule all council impediments to building and living in tiny homes. What the feds need to do is legislate against NIMBYism

@kcarruthers @joannejacobs @luciedigitalni the problem with apartments is government let strata managers and the actual developers profit from owners forever. $11k per year to pay for your share of maintaining a swimming pool and lift doesn’t make sense.

AI generated content is garbage. The website has detailed driving instructions which do not mention the ferry.

Every chance I've had to interact with satellite operators in conferences, I've asked them about their plans for dealing with solar storms (I'm particularly worried about Starlink, which requires dozens of maneuvers per day to avoid collisions. What if a large fraction shuts down for a few hours?!)

The universal response to my inquiries has been "Don't worry about that, it'll be fine!"

I guess we're going to find out very soon. https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/

@sundogplanets like so many modern possible disaster things I bet the modern satellites just ride through this.
