Ah here, I was this years old when I heard that Charles Stewart Parnell probably didn’t pronounce his own surname in the way it’s widely applied to Dublin landmarks and roads (par-NELL) but in the same way one might expect to hear in Ireland, with less emphasis on the second syllable (PARN’nell). As best as I can tell this story merely reprises a blog post about a conference presentation. I don’t want to minimize AI risks in any form but this one feels off. I’ll go out on a limb and predict that most likely the story will turn out to be highly inaccurate—even beyond the fact it the story doesn't make it easy to see it was just a computer simulation.

Elsevier and other academic publishers have pivoted from oligopolistic publishers to researcher-surveillance vendors. They track everything you do and sell the analysis back to your employers.

It's about time that academics became more aware of this.
