adjusting some clearances for a better fit

@buzzyrobin@chaos.social avatar

alright, finally updated my dev unit with the newer case revision, to match the updated production PCBs

(Printed in translucent PLA, with some honeycomb infill and some carefully-reoriented rectilinear top and bottom layers; done while I wait for the real polycarbonate cases to show up.)

Back side, diagonal patterns, with a battery and battery retainer (of sorts) kinda visible through it.

satisfying brain-scratching noodling from the weekend + earlier:

(I am very new at these, and am going to keep devouring whatever reference material and examples I can scrounge. Also, you 1st Angle vs 3rd Angle culture war people need to take a chill pill.)

PS: vaguely similar examples welcome; I've been cribbing from diagrams that come with enclosures people sell, and a bunch of unrelated diagrams for things that are not really this kind of shape.

PPS: fuck ISO and ASME for putting industry communication standards behind paywalls.

PPPS: I am still mildly in disbelief that we Do Real Business Things but have a logo that is wordart.

Fun things about manufacturing physical things: considering all the permutations in variances in tolerance

eg. if the screw-holes are 0.1mm larger than model, and the screws are 0.13mm longer than model, and then repeat this for the front and backโ€ฆ are the screws going to run into each other in the middle?

I expected it to be bad (ie. little box that talks to backend server where all the smarts / API calls live), but not quite this bad:

do you like reading a listing full of "the wall plug can break off the main body of the charger exposing the internal wires" and "the power bank may overheat and catch fire" for Comsol and Keji products?

may i introduce you to:

@mcc i think "touching mains wires" is a pretty well-known weakness by this point

@buzzyrobin because of how they process knowledge, the robots don't know that unless they're presented with a great many specific examples of it. honestly they're pretty crummy robots, it's kind of pathetic that they're inevitably going to defeat us

@buzzyrobin I use the D sized ones in a CDV-700 Geiger counter. They work great!
