#PennedPossibilities 305- Are there any characters of yours that you wound up HATING once you were finished with a story or WIP?

Protagonists: none

Antagonists: almost all.
They start at neutrally observed, and my hatred of them developes as they become more known to me. They are like anyone who I learn of their choices of arrogance, torture, bigotry, and undue violence.
There's one story however, where much like the antagonist I developed mixed feelings about a minor antagonist. I loathe what they did, but understand they did it to keep surviving rather than draw a line in the sand and possibly die. It doesn't absolve them of what they did, but I understand that they weren't an outright quisling or cruel person.

And to interpret the question another way, there's no characters were I've regretted their presence in a story.

In A Wolf's Lullaby: She never really stressed about anything, just rolled with whatever happens.
In The Cantata Of The Wild Soul: breakdowns, flashbacks, fmixed grammar, and feral maulings (she's not coping really well)

Pintac:
In A Wolf's Lullaby: Gets quite & contemplative, his accent progressively becomes thicker,
In The Cantata Of The Wild Soul: Pushed it down, and fought until his last breathe to save Parthia

A Wolf's Lullaby: SCs
Gavin: does what he can to address it, and if it's out of his control then he practices different knots
Liv Pinue: Reads and re-reads the few books she already has on alchemy and alchemical processes.

Nobody. At least relationship wise.

On the trek to the village Gavin and Pintac figure out their wants in life are different directions. And since they're reasonable adults that talk to each other (yes this is also a vague post about a couple I know), they mutually end the relationship.

Liv and Parthia were in a mutual no-strings relationship since Liv is heading to a major city in Spring to study alchemy.

no love triangle miscommunication type shenanigans.

#pennedpossibilities 288 — How social is your MC or SC? Do they thrive around others or do they prefer being alone?

Parthia: She's fine with solitude when she chooses it. But to her core she's a social creature. She's an /otherness/ within her village but still highly a part of it. Her self exile in #TCotWS broke her a bit. It also rippled through the community, as she was sort of a heart of the village, amplifying the closeness there. In her absence the general mood took a down turn.
In #AWolfsLullaby we'll get to see more of the gregariousness and social butterfly side of her.

Pintac: He's usually luke warm, holding no strong need in either direction. Save for when it comes to Parthia. There's something about her that makes him feel like he's right where he should be. He becomes an equally bubbly-gregarious as she is when in her vicinity.

Horror: What terrifies me doesn't translate to words. And I don't really grock what most call horror as horror.

Murder - mystery: I have the dubious 'gift' or figuring out most mysteries in short order. If I wrote one it'd either seem like the ending came out of left field, or I'd inadvertently choke the read with clues 😞

The current campaign is 2/3rds through.. and my friend Lucy and I have already started building characters for the next campaign🤣
My Barbarian( human hybrid) and her Wizard (Drow with lycanthropy)have had a romance arc that included disrupting the arranged marriage her paramour was forced into.
And while we were hanging out this week working on homebrew projects, we got the delightfully chaotic idea that our characters for the next campaign should be siblings born to her Wiz and my Barb ( simplified safe for work explanation: magic ritual),and Wiz's paramour is a quasi stepmom/mom #3🌈
So we now have fraternal twin sisters heading off to the Witchlight Carnival to get their mums a surprise anniversary gift.
She's going to play a Shifter Druid, I'll be playing a tweaked Half-Drow Lycanthrope:Werewolf (homebrew class Lucy made) Both look like distinct and unique blends of the Wiz + Barb.
We let the DM in on it earlier today, and DM was absolutely geeked out that not only were we looking forward to next campaign but had fleshed out these characters and written a good chunk of collaborative lore for them.

"But what if one of you or the paramour dies?"

Good question.

Our characters have contingencies.. (originally in case crashing the wedding went sideways) and I'm proud to say only 1 of those plans involves torturing a Lolth cleric.

So how did I end up at an Autumn celebration, getting my ass handed to me in a match of Ku’rab?

It started with me getting into a fight with a monkey. Well rather Gavin who I was dating at that time, got into a fight with the helmsman's fucking pet monkey.
Gods above and below, that fucking monkey. I should have chucked the malicious fucker overboard during that storm.
I'm getting side tracked.
After we had that gladiatorial fight with the helmsman's fucking pet monkey, Gavin and I decided to take our earnings and do something else for Winter, you know to take a breather. Neither of us had enjoyed working the cargo routes during the storms of last Winter. So we figured we'd come back in Spring, and find a different ship to sign onto… one without a fucking monkey.

Her home village plays a big roll even if it isn't an upfront obvious role. Part of the reason Parthia makes the Faustian deal is to protect her community. And it's the loss of that community that drives her slightly unhinged state when monologuing at Mr.Thrace. At story start it's been about 2years since the event she's recounting, and in that time she's had no support or anyone to talk to. She's been working through grief alone.. all alone, while hunting down the people responsible for the death of her husband and her fellow villagers who she greatly cared about.

So I invented a pretty simple game for my current WiP #AWolfsLullaby , called Ku'rab.
It involves posts at either end of a length of space with point assigned hooks/branches.
A small Hoop made of woven vines, about the size of a hand from finger tip to wrist.

Because my brain doesn't like to half ass #WorldBuilding,
The logic went like this
1: What's a relatively low complexity rules game a rural village might play at Harvest Celebrations & such
2: How do I craft it so it's easily adapted for modern day, with the notion of making it adaptable for play by people that use #wheelchairs

In other words, if I'm going to invent a game, it needs to be playable IRL, and it should be available to as many people as I can make it.

I'll post sketches in a day or two and solict feedback then.

Parthia/Ta'regi was freaking out in the #Tavernn this morning while I was finishing up writing #TCotWS
She was having an anxiety attack that she'd disappear once I finished writing down her story.

She's still there...
She's calmed down a good bit.
I had to remind her I've only painted /one/ of her stories, and I would be dishonouring her if I only wrote about her trauma.
I want to celebrate the beauty of her and Pintac's love.
And I wouldn't let her fad away even if TCotWS was to be the only story I write down.
