Hey UK friends, any idea why my tomato seedlings have sort of come to a bit of a halt since repotting them? They had 2 true leaves when I did so, but seem to have stayed there for the last couple of weeks with no growth. They've been in a warm spot with plenty of light but no direct sunlight (kitchen island). Will they improve with windowsill/direct sun? Edit: seems so! thanks everyone!

Can anyone explain to me how these people sleep at night? I just donโ€™t understand how a company that feeds kids can see a profit rise of 30% as anything other than a damning indictment of the quality of their food and treatment of their workers.

@CatherineFlick Plus thereโ€™s just that possibility (but I donโ€™t know for sure) that their contract was not won through the normal channels of pricing and competition. I could, of course, be entirely wrong in this but a litany of government-awarded contract scandals over the past few years (in particular) has turned me into a suspicious cynic.

I'm not really an ink person, but if anyone is interested in what the new Golden Lapis is like, here's my experience of the bottle that just arrived. I guess what I was expecting was a darkish blue with a gold 'shimmer' - what I seem to have is a kind of turquoise blue that dries with a faint gold speckle. I'm sure that there are more 'professional' reviews available/coming

after gaining some info from here (via the hashtag) and much gรผgling, I found out and confirmed the following: either a Schmidt K2 converter or Faber Castell will fit the slim Muji aluminium fountain pen. Might be my imagination but I seem to be getting a better ink flow, too, that with a cartridge. Hope this helps someone (else). Oh, I got my converters from Cult Pens in the UK. Lovely to deal with.

UK friends, what are the little gnat like insects that come out and fly around in big groups in the sun? Itโ€™s nice to see some today but surely itโ€™s a bit early?

@CatherineFlick โ€˜Midgesโ€™ possibly, although they tend to be more of a summer thing. Having said that, there all manner of small flying insects that are rousing with this mild weather weโ€™re seeing right now. The birds are active, and theyโ€™ll be looking to feed on those waking insectsโ€ฆ the UK (not alone) has seen a staggering loss of insect life in the past few years, and this has dramatic effects right on up the food chain, so enjoy what fauna youโ€™re seeing and do whatever you can to help.

*Waterman once 'ended' this ink, so I bought all that one stationer had. Then Waterman brought it back. Oh how we laughed.

Many years back, I explored various coloured inks, including (for a time) a red, and a brown: both from Waterman as I recall. After a while I settled on Encre Violette and that's been me for years. Recently saw a post with this Edelstein Garnet and... hmm. FWIW: Schmidt K2 converter seems to at least fit the Muji OK. Flow? Time will tell.
