I’m an anarchocommunist, all states are evil.

Your local herpetology guy.

Feel free to AMA about picking a pet/reptiles in general, I have a lot of recommendations for that!

It’s simple, SpaceX is one of the companies they don’t let him influence. The engineers just handle SpaceX because it’s too complicated for him.

Same with neuralink.

Privacy with Google's Gboard (lemm.ee)

The only app I can’t live without. Except for gboard, all of my applications are Foss. There is no competition for gboard’s swipe typing, not to mention its many capabilities like as searching for gifs, stickers, being able to paste copied images, translating, and so on. I’d like to know how I can use gboard while...

I’m usually a snake owner (although not at the moment), the amount of people who have horrible misconceptions about snakes genuinely frighten me

People see snakes and assume they’re bitey monsters that just want to hurt you, this could not be further from the case, snakes have relatively fragile teeth, and their venom is precious, furthermore they cannot tear chunks out of their prey, they must swallow them whole. These few things combined means that biting humans is not really high on their list of things to do. Some snakes can be rather defensive, but there’s no snake that will chase a human, and you can tame almost any snake down from defensiveness relatively easily (much easier than you could if a giant grabbed you)

There’s no such thing as a snake that chases humans, they aren’t slimy, they aren’t all venomous, and the venomous ones know they will still lose a fight with a human, so, they will run away, furthermore it is no consolation prize to the snake that they kill you TOMORROW if you’ve been bit, when their head has been stomped today.

Bethesda Is Changing The Way You Pickpocket In Starfield (www.gamespot.com)

Thanks to a video posted by Reddit user OkPain2022, we're given a glimpse of how pickpocketing will work. Of course, you'll still need to approach them by crouching, and after you do that, a prompt will appear, allowing you to steal from them. After that, another menu will appear, showing you what they have and the odds of you...

I’ve been saying forever this system is stupid as hell, you should have either a 100 percent chance to steal something or a 0 percent chance, so that you can’t save scum

Well, since it was so beneficial why don’t we enslave white people, it really isn’t fair that they didn’t get chattel slavery too don’t you think?

People have tried alternate systems, some have even gone extremely well until they are destroyed by capitalists

The fact of the matter is, the only reason there isn’t another system is because capitalists have gone out of their way to destroy every other system that has been tried.

You can’t make a fair comparison when you factor in that capitalists already control the world.

Even democratically elected communists were destroyed by the US government.

Undermined by stuffed pockets?

None of the systems I advocated were undermined by stuffed pockets, they were undermined by a capitalist country militaristically destroying a new nation, a capitalist country that has 50 percent of the ENTIRE WORLDS military spending.

That’s an important detail not to gloss over.

Revolutionary Catalonia had a wonderful system, the zapatistas have a wonderful system, neither were undermined by what you claim. I’m anti-red fascism, the Soviet union was evil. You just boldly assumed anarchists don’t exist, I agree that they were fundamentally doomed, but anarchists have no such fuckups.

Furthermore do you honestly believe capitalism is not susceptible to stuffed pockets??

As someone who is a die-hard linux user who would never even consider using windows, I would never even consider a system76 over a framework, honestly.

Donald Trump brands US a ‘third -world hellhole’ run by ‘perverts’ and ‘thugs’ (www.independent.co.uk)

Donald Trump gave a rambling two-hour speech at a right-wing conference where he branded the U.S. a “third-world hellhole” under President Biden’s leadership. He falsely claimed the 2020 election was rigged and investigations against him are an attempt to rig the 2024 election. He threatened to revoke funding from...

…because one side wants to eradicate a group of people (trans people) for their personal choices that they have nothing to do with, and take away rights from people that affect them in exactly no ways.

What does the left want to do that’s fascist?

I trust his companies when I know the engineers don’t let him have any say whatsoever.

Neuralink and spacex are interesting to watch, because how badly could he fuck them up in a way that engineers will let him? Not much.

Tesla is just on the edge of being fucked up by him, his weird yoke and insistence on capacitive buttons are very close to being too much… but the thing that made me finally decide not to ever get a tesla was his insistence on using exclusively cameras instead of cameras+radar for autopilot.

If you don’t care about self-driving, and don’t care about the yoke/capacitive buttons, teslas are fine cars.

Eventually Lemmy will be better than kbin based on the rate of development, I'd say give it another chance in a few months.

Lemmy.ml is blocking all requests from /kbin Instances (kbin.social)

I discovered yesterday evening that Lemmy.ml is blocking all inbound ActivityPub requests from /kbin instances. Specifically, a 403 'access denied' is returned when the user agent contains "kbinBot" anywhere in the string. This has been causing a cascade of failures with federation for many server owners, flooding the message...

That's not how this works, they stand to gain nothing from eliminating competition, it's open source software, it's likely an accident or a moderation issue.

communist,
@communist@beehaw.org avatar

Uh, they do, actually. The belief is that the USSR was attempting to build communism.

I reject this because they didn't implement any communist policies, even Lenin himself said what they were doing was state capitalism.

The tankie defense is that they were doing it to later establish communism, but nobody who knows what they're talking about actually believes the USSR achieved socialism.

They even refused to help Yugoslavia after they implemented an actually socialist policy (workplace democracy).

The situation with the USSR was rather clearly that an authoritarian dictatorship wanted to call themselves a utopia so they said they were communist.

I don't understand why people give the USSR the benefit of the doubt and assume they were actually trying to do something good.

I'm using jerboa for now, I intend to investigate in a couple months to find the best one, things are changing way too rapidly right now and I'd end up going through so many and that can't be great for security.

Make sure you’re running the sdl environment variable that makes them native on Wayland, in my experience when that’s on it makes my games that are native significantly more performant.

communist,

Yes, you're correct, just a little funny that you moved from arch to basically steamarch, or as I've recently taken to calling it, arch plus steam
