Both sets of grandparents came to #Canada from #TheNetherlands shortly after WW2. My parents were both born here in #Ontario, and I live in #HamOnt (where a lot of the #Steenhof & #Turkstra clan still resides).

While most of my extended family are Evangelical/Fundamentalist, I am not part of that spiritual & intellectual dead end.

I write programs with code. That code is often #PHP and #JavaScript/, often leveraging #Laravel and #Vue.

@outofcontrol The experience of doing that isn't great. Not only do you have to copy and paste, following that link also pops open a new tab for me.

@outofcontrol I'm mostly just using the default web interface... on Windows

I want a 10x10x25cm freezer container for liquids, as close to square as possible, self-sealing, and dishwasher safe. As far as I can tell such a thing does not exist.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

They must be individual containers without any internal diameter reduction so the contents can be easily removed by simply running the container under warm water for a few moments and then inverting.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

They must have no wider portion on the outside either, so they can be stacked easily and efficiently.

The only design I can think of the fulfils this brief is a slip-over design with a seal at the top.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

A slide in cap would work too but I fundamentally don't trust that to hold a seal once frozen.

Plasel sells something similar but of course not for food but for cutting tools. Lots of room for innovation in this sector it would seem.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

Now I'm wondering if there's such a thing as food and freezer safe 3d printing...

@andrewfeeney With great care by artisans?

I've never eaten a Twinkie tho

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

@andrewfeeney I've seen them here on occasion, but they're not really something I've seen anyone in my social circles eat or talk about 🤷‍♀️

@andrewfeeney Now you've got me wanting a big mac, what have you done 😆

My idea of fun.... Installing Red Star OS 3.0, server edition....

dandb,

@SuitedUpDev This reminds me of the time I bought a laptop from China. Getting it up and running was... an adventure.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

@SuitedUpDev Pretty much exactly that but this was 10 years ago and Google Translate was just absolutely hilariously awful at Chinese script 😅

I dunno if pissing off the NFT-heads is really the right move for Twitter, considering those kinds of crypto-addled brains might be the only ones left willing to support Musk.

Maybe should have a "scalar" type after all.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

@lhengstmengel Yeah I'd love separate hash and list types in addition to arrays as they exist now for b/c. Plus new functions with sane param orders.

While we're dreaming I'd love typed tuples 😀

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

@Crell @lhengstmengel For me it would replace a lot of really simple immutable DTOs that really only exist to provide typing.

Apparently the way middleware is defined is changing radically in Laravel 11.

I’m not sure I like this. Seems like too much magic to me 🤔

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

@michael I wonder what the rationale is behind that. I suppose it might make upgrades easier, as you don't have to mess around with all the arrays in the Application Kernel with this approach when they add or remove default middlewares?

Has anyone managed to get 's Isolatable commands working? I dunno what I'm doing wrong, but I'm able to run an Isolatable command via artisan console in 2 separate terminals and they both execute just fine.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

@shawnhooper It works if I use the flag. Doesn't work if I use the interface.

dandb,
@dandb@mas.to avatar

@shawnhooper Oooooh I think I read the docs wrong. It says:

"When a command is marked as Isolatable, Laravel will automatically add an --isolated option to the command. When the command is invoked with that option, Laravel will ensure that no other instances of that command are already running."

Which I read to mean that all commands implementing Isolatable will automatically be run in isolation.

🤦

mismatching directly referenced class types (eg not an interface) when assigned to a ref, eg ref<MyClass>(new MyClass()) is incredibly annoying.
