I have a ton of small things to finish before I can ship the new Pixelfed app, that being said I do want to get it in your hands ASAP

I’m planning to release an alpha build APK this weekend (some things may not fully work yet, but you will have a chance to see the huge improvements and help provide feedback)

And by small things I mean non-essential features like viewing who you blocked, or accepting follow requests.

While they are important to finish before the public release, being able to have an early preview and provide feedback will help me a lot!

Oh man, the new Pixelfed app keeps getting better and better!

I’m now finishing up Push Notifications support, which is the most requested feature besides share intents (which I shipped earlier tonight)

Not only is it fast, lightweight and open source, but also packed with many long overdue features like Push Notifications 😎

It’s everything you wanted, plus more ✨

I just want to educate y'all about this specific "scary" warning (that you may see in the Pixelfed app)

Apple Bonjour is a feature that enables seamless connection between your Apple devices

You can safely tap "Don't Allow" without any impact, however, that may limit Handoff support and other Apple features we're planning to implement.

Regardless, you can audit our app code yourself to verify we aren't doing anything sketchy

Saddening me time and again is seeing individualism and fragmentation in #FOSS.

#Collaboration between projects that's so often low-hanging fruit, yet never happens. More anticipation of needs, helping each other, be stronger together. Yet it hardly shapes up to the extent that it could.

We seem to lack time to become sustainable, let alone 'win' from #Hypercapitalism. No time to seek collab as we prod on alone.

There are exceptions of course, and better collab tools are becoming available.

The fediverse is a bit better at this, but it takes a lot of determination!

When I started SocialHub, this was my ultimate goal, and I'm so glad to see it still lives on and is thriving thanks to people like you ❤️

Don't lose hope, progress takes time and we're doing a dang good job!

I'm now almost finished re-writing the main Pixelfed app from scratch, using best practices, and in the open!
