Aurora posts on Facebook have now descended into “this is what it looked like on my phone, anything more vibrant is faking it” and now posting photos is a lot less fun.

My favorite part is people complaining about “saturation” without knowing what it is.

Humming-butt. We are blessed in that our back porch is regularly visited by these cheeky little flying jewels. I have tried to photograph them for some years and failed. I have just finished improving the technology and it’s good enough now, but have still not captured one in flight or looking at me. Summer project!

We had thin high cirrus clouds here, so we got to see the totality but not the extended corona, just the bright ring.

The bright red solar prominence off the bottom edge of the corona, tho!

Just dropped off the car at the Johnson County Fairground so we can go wander quaint downtown Franklin, Indiana to kill the next hour and a half until the big event.

We woke up in Indy, but I figured may as well travel to the dead centre of the path of totality after coming all this way for it.

Had to pick a spot and book all the travel last summer to not pay through the nose. Mexico felt like the sure bet and the Midwest felt like a dice roll. Looking at the weather in both today, I’m pretty relieved the bet paid off.
