I love how many cultures in the world developed utensils for eating. Meanwhile, in many South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, people were like, "Nah, hands are enough."

Basically, what I'm saying is that not all of us use chopsticks. Some of us eat from leaf with hand.

I was checking out what movies were showing right now. What kind of title is "Men are from QC, Women are from Alabang"?

I know Alabang girls are a thing, but are QC boys too? What does that even mean? Are Alabang girls upper class, and QC boys are working class?

I am confusion.

I keep seeing the Joker 2 trailer popup, and I've just been refusing to watch it. I'm just so tired of the Joker at this point.

It seems like every piece of Batman media either has to focus on him or feature him prominently. Can we like just take a 20-year break from him?

It's not even that I dislike the character. I used to seek out Joker stuff when I was younger. I even read tons of fanfic.

I'm currently writing some tooling to make the integration of Tailwind in our project easier. I'm making it so that we can automatically switch between using the cdn in development and using the built css file for production.

I'm willing to go the extra mile for this.

Well, that was pretty easy. It's kinda crude, but it gets the job done.

I wish I could write tooling stuff more often. It scratches my itch of wanting to automate everything.

Another beautiful volume cover of the most beautiful girl in the world! Only this time it's from the official doujinshi of Kaguya-sama. Which... I'm not the biggest fan of but it's decent! Just a little too fan-servicey in the beginning. (Granted I haven't read it in years.)

@fujiwara My only exposure to the doujin was the OVA, which solidified that I didn't want to read it.

It's so weird that they mixed stuff from the doujin with an actual chapter from the main manga in that OVA.

@fujiwara I don't really participate in the community, so I wouldn't know.

I get the sex sells thing and I've made my peace that fanservice is just everywhere in anime. But it felt so weird seeing it in Kaguya-sama.

I know that in a way, the doujin is also supposed to be satirical or something, which is why it's so over-the-top... but still.

Idk abt y'all but Wolverine to me is the most random boring-ass x-man. So what if he's got claws coming out of his knuckles? So what if he can heal himself? Only himself?? Why did this man take the spotlight for so long when Storm, a literal goddess, is there? Rogue? Damn, even that one Genoshan whose body is made of pink jelly is more interesting than this cat-turned-man-but-still-behaves-like-a-cat man.

@teacherbuknoy honestly, I don't remember him being that interesting in the original show. He's a lot more interesting in his standalone stuff.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like the Western idea of having to move out at 18 (or even your early 20s) is crazy.

I can't imagine living on my own with the amount I'm making right now.

It just seems much better for both sides financially if you stay with your parents for at least a little while longer after getting a job. That way, both parties get to save a lot in living expenses. It's a win-win.

I get that the point is independence, but also... in this economy?

@fujiwara Yeah, I've dreamt of enjoying those benefits myself. My short term goal is definitely to be able to move out within the next few years.

Initially, I thought I'd move out a year after I started working, but now I'm not so sure how feasible that is.

@anianimalsmoe yeah, I totally get that. I was talking more about the expectation that you have to move out. But you're right, some people have legitimate reasons to want to move out ASAP.

I'm lucky enough that my relationship with my mom, albeit not the best, is relatively good enough that I can stand to live with her for a (little) while longer.

@chikorita157 student loans are another thing that seem crazy to me. I keep hearing about people spending years paying them off. That really seems like hell when you're just trying to find your footing in your 20s. The show Total Forgiveness on Dropout really opened my eyes to that.

Student loans aren't really a thing here. You can either afford to go to college or not. If you're lucky, you might be able to get a scholarship or some government grant.

I was lucky enough that I met the requirements to enroll in a state university, which are completely free. I don't really know what the average financial situation is for people who weren't as lucky and had to go to private universities. Though, I definitely know people who went to universities that are way out of their budgets...

@chikorita157 I'm pretty sure we're in the lower end of education costs in Asia. Probably why we have so many international students here.

I guess the real bottleneck here (for locals) is the living expenses. Free education doesn't do you much good if you can't afford rent.
