dvoraqs,

Saying none just makes you clearly wrong, but I’d be surprised if not every guy has thought a little bit about what it would be like to have their own boobs.

dvoraqs,

I think the game is supposed to feel difficult

dvoraqs,

This is why we need to get past First Past the Post election systems.

It only supports two main parties because votes for other parties are spoiler votes that actually take away from the big party they are most aligned with. The two parties become big tent parties that don’t need to align that closely with the people in it.

dvoraqs,

For the story to make sense, I’m guessing that the person you’re responding to meant OG Oculus or OG Rift as in the development kit.

dvoraqs,

Most of history is made up of stories.

We can tell different stories of history and many even conflicting ones can be true, but they don’t all have the same weight in their impact to the course of events.

Love is multiple things and is still meaningful for us.

Theoretically I can see somebody not being attracted to guys, as in masculine people, or just males, but still being turned on by penises as we see in OP’s example. That person might not call themselves gay since they wouldn’t want to be in a relationship with any guys, but might be interested in a hookup with a trans woman who still had their dick.

Maybe their is some nuance in what being gay is or there is room for another descriptor for this phenomenon.

Edit: reading below, this person might be hetero-romantic and homo-sexual.

dvoraqs,

Volume does matter, though. It enough people vote blue in Texas districts, the result goes the other way and overwhelming turnout can even defeat the bias of gerrymandering.

With the EC, the number of votes in any district boils down into just the winner of that district, which I think is what you’re saying, but it doesn’t negate the activity behind it. Granted, this simplification is problematic still because districts are not the same and it ignores relative district sizes. Votes still matter because we don’t know what will actually happen in each race.

Texas is historically a pretty conservative state demographically, so it would not be a surprise for Trump to win there. That’s democracy working as it should (despite flaws) to represent as many people as it can. Democracy needs people to participate and give a coordinated equal push towards our goals, and we might be surprised by how different the results could be if we all believed in it and worked together.

dvoraqs,

If Biden wins again, that would put pressure on Republicans to reevaluate how they’ve been operating.

That might mean doubling down, but it could also mean changing by shedding their most extreme views and candidates, and moving back towards the middle, or just eventually imploding and having another party take its place.

It’s how the system works with First Past the Post voting. It doesn’t support more than 2 viable candidates. We need to reform our election system.

dvoraqs, (edited )

The ability to vote and participate in a democracy is one thing of many that people have fought for, yes, so it should not be taken for granted. Ignoring it is throwing away the power you and everybody else who can vote have to influence how things will be in the future.

dvoraqs,

Our version of democracy is flawed, yes, I agree. We can talk all day about what is working against us and how it looks like it won’t win.

What I’m advocating for, though, is participating despite that. We need learn to work with the system as it is because there’s not much time to change it. Election reform, though, is my top priority going into the next presidency.

dvoraqs,

I’m surprised “hatriot” didn’t come up earlier with these MAGA hats and hatred for everything that the right spreads.

dvoraqs,

Do you like democracy? Can it be fixed? Are you pushing for election reform?

dvoraqs, (edited )

I wonder how much pressure Nintendo will get to change the name given the connotation of the letter Z representing the Russian forces in Ukraine.

dvoraqs,

Biden is the strongest polling candidate against Trump

dvoraqs,
dvoraqs,

On paper it’s a vote for Jill, but in effect it’s a vote for the party you dislike more. Are you more of a practical person or more of a person concerned with technicalities?

dvoraqs,

This could change if we get rid of FPTP in favor of something like STV. Multiple viable parties means we can actually vote for people or parties closer to what we want.

It’s just impractical to go against the top 2 parties without doing so.

dvoraqs,

That is literally not how they will be counted. You’re still not getting it. There would just be a practical effect of your vote working against your adjacent interests.

dvoraqs,

Here’s an opinion of somebody unwilling to reflect or learn.

dvoraqs,

It’s pretty clear to me that Christianity can turn into fascism given the way that it’s been used to support anti-LGBT and anti-abortion propaganda.

dvoraqs,

Only 50% after repeatedly killing opposition candidates?

dvoraqs,

Probably should be higher since there is less competition and an implication that you’re not allowed to oppose Vlad.

dvoraqs,

Prioritize what’s important. You don’t have time to take in every little thing, but you can still go deep on the stuff that has a bigger impact. How to decide? I don’t know.

dvoraqs,

It must be bad, yes, but it doesn’t help that the draws the ire of others to himself
