After redoing my desk setup the other day, I was reminded of how annoying it is to have my tools on my workbench in the shed, so I spent some time today addressing that.

@mattgemmell Interesting! I might need to upgrade my tool hanging. I've always used the pegboard made out of fiberboard. It does work, but tends to warp and not be spaced uniformly out from the wall.

By the way - I've found that these do help when some clips are easy to dislodge. Not sure that happens as much on metal - but I did see pictures of people using them.

iPad upgrade story

A relative's iPad 6G was on 15.7 & had about 3GB free and wouldn't even download iPadOS. Laboriously cleaned out photos to get to ~4.8GB free & it downloaded, but failed "Verification”

Apple store said: You probably need more like 8GB free, and Installing from a Mac would help. I asked how new the macOS had to be? They said “Sonoma"😏

From a Catalina Mac it said installing 15.7🤷‍♂️But installed 17.4 just fine.

Sadly, it doesn't support continuity camera 😢 needs 8G or newer.

In the evening, my MacBook Pro is my phone, TV, and everything else. It’s the only device I use. Sometimes I want to turn the brightness down even further than the minimum level.

Today I found Lunar, a macOS app that enables exactly that. You press F1/brightness-down past the lowest setting, and rather than the screen turning off, it gets even darker. Super slick. I adore this app. https://lunar.fyi

Whenever I make feature request to developers, I try to be constructive and nice about it - but this is the most positive feedback I think I've gotten on one. 😅

Interesting that I don't see how to get the Widgets to show up. It doesn't show up in the lists of widgets to add.

@havn @seanallen_dev @johnvoorhees Interesting - that didn't bother me, probably because I’m looking at the app as a developer not really as a user. The theme and icon certainly didn't need to be in the onboarding.

It's so hard because - some people hate onboarding screens and don't want any delays to using the app. And others need it. I guess I've seen “Skip" buttons that seen like a good idea. Also, having a way to rerun onboarding without deleting the app might be helpful.

Apple Dev question: On the need to give out an address - Do you get much mail? I would hope anything from Apple is done electronically.

Such a great addition to the ADD-4M5 Family line of shows!

So many great characters, costumes, one-liners, suspense, music and the cliff hanger ending! Yes the suspense IS killing me for the next season in 2025?

Todo lists and tracking spreadsheets help me a bit - but a lot of the ideas here about how you need to spread out productivity and vary tasks are what I do too.

Matching energy levels to tasks is another goal.

Yay - inspector approved my hot water heater replacement install!
He was uncomfortable about one thing: the temp & pressure release valve not being plumbed to outdoors or directly to a drain. There are no drains nearby to plumb it too. The only near exterior wall is 10 feet below ground.
I’d read the code and it seemed like this was ok because concrete floor + a drain in the floor, but the distance to it made him uncomfortable.

He decided to let it go. <whew!>

@siracusa @atpfm relative to Microsoft Teams - some of us with jobby jobs didn't have Slack and instead were attempting to use WebEx 🤢😱So the rollout of Teams was a WONDERFUL thing!

Additionally, it seems like an embarrassment that Apple hasn't come out with a MS Teams competitor and especially for WWDC labs, etc… forces us to keep using WebEx.

I didn't know that Slack had live calling - is that new? I wonder why Apple doesn't use that for labs?
