Oh god, they are all so INFURIATING.

You know what I want from a political party?

I want them to look at the problems the country faces.

I want them to talk to experts about possible causes & solutions.

I want them to pick a path based on evidence; a set of options they think are the best way forward.

I want them to put effort into communicating the above & go into an election based on that.

Why is that so fucking hard?

Anyhow. Just read today's news with the navel gazing and reactive bollocks after the by-elections last week and needed to get that out of my system.

Now I'm going to put the washing out, get some more coffee, and chill.

@mrsbeanbag But politicians could do something about that. They choose not to because it's easier to play it. Not giving them that as a way out of their responsibilities.

@mrsbeanbag But there's always someone in power so it could always be done if they were acting in the best interests of everyone rather than themselves.

(not suggesting this is likely, or easy, but it's politicians' self-interest that stops it, which goes back to my original moan about how crap our politicians are)

@cstross Aye, no question some parties are better than others, as indeed are some individual politicians. I was just getting very cross at the news this morning, with the debate about what the by-elections meant for policy / direction. No-one seemed to consider that should just have some fucking principles, tell us what they are, and stand by them.

@cstross @Darkedge I was just about to add to the PR point, and mention that I genuinely find voting in Scottish elections a better experience because I know there's more to it than the single winner.

And maybe if more people felt like that, like their vote would have an impact, it would improve turnout too.

I have just done the smoothest removal of a HUGE wasp from the kitchen ever. Caught with no flapping or swearing, straight into a glass, trapped and out.

It was perfect.

I am finding the Wallace Monument as small planet very appealing, and very Scottish.

I mean, I know the flag is there which obviously shouts SCOTLAND, but it's the building. I think sometimes the mountains and lochs (and Highland cows) overpower the imagery when someone says Scotland, but this building is perfect in this squat, warped form.

To me anyhow.

Same view, but no longer quintessentially Scottish. Now it's either that:

  1. I've had one too many drinks this evening and need to step away from the computer OR

  2. I've discovered an amazing portal to the world of upside down people.

(I was going to make that a poll, but the option doesn't appear to be there when you add an image - boooooo!)

Top secret behind-the-scenes footage of this weeks sparkly dancer rehearsing their twizzly-arm-stomp dance.

A short animated loop of a seaside view, with blue-green sea gently rolling into a beach, and a blue sky with fluffy clouds. There is a large rock stack on the beach. On the top is a simple drawn figure, doing wee dance.

@Torbjorn Aye, it is an issue. I've spent most of my adult life moaning about people not bothering to vote though. Even just a little better is better.
