I have not said it much in public, but I think I can’t keep it mostly private anymore.

For the past 1 year-plus (since April of 2022), I have been afflicted by a nasty skin rash that has slowly migrated from my neck and arms to my hands, and has stubbornly stayed there ever since.

I have started seeing a doctor for it since late last year, but it seems like nothing is making it go away for good.

A bit of a / rant and also concerning :

I have seen quite a few Mastodon/Fediverse “extremists” crying foul about how the default Mastodon app defaults new users to the mastodon.social instance, and how a universal Mastodon/Fediverse search will “hurt the network”, etc. etc.

Thing is, these “extremists” are also holding onto a geeky/nerdy idea of what they think the Fediverse should and shouldn’t be, and are risking allowing Bluesky to jump ahead of us.

I’m done trying to hold this in.

Let me tell you what happened on Tuesday night, why I’m so freaking pissed and upset still, and why I’m going to get LTA to implement enforceable rules about silence on public transit.

Tuesday evening. I had wanted to run out to IKEA Jurong to quickly buy something. The route I took was to use the 859 bus to get to Sembawang MRT, from where I would catch the train to Jurong East.

I honestly don’t see why Mastodon and Bluesky can’t coexist together. Both have their own strengths and both can cater to a slightly different crowd and their own use cases. Neither platform is truly superior over the other and both can complement each other in their own ways.

Heck, since Bluesky is being built on the soon-to-be-opened AT protocol I don’t see why a future social media platform wouldn’t be able to support both the AT and ActivityPub protocols (the latter of which Mastodon uses)

Just wondering: for fellow @actuallyautistic people, do you have any other issues besides autism as well? I know ADHD is a big one, but what about other conditions like OCD, depression etc. (of which both I have as well)?

Anyway, my sleep schedule is completely screwed up again. Woke up at 3PM+ yesterday, and haven’t slept since (it’s now 7AM here where I live).

I wonder if sleep schedule issues are something that other people face as well?

While I have more or less always loved the Pokémon franchise, there has always been something about it that just didn’t sit well with me, but which I have never been able to lay my finger on what exactly until quite recently: the competitive aspect of it.

A lot of the Pokémon franchise (not all of it, but most) revolves mostly around competing to be “the very best”, to grind and compete and emerge on top as the champion.

Genuinely yet pleasantly surprised at how the Singapore Presidential Election results are turning out. Was really worried that Ng Kok Song will split Tharman’s vote and result in Tan Kin Lian getting carried into the presidency by some freak outcome, but this very clearly hasn’t happened.

Think I’m in the right headspace right now to talk about this so I will try to get this out.

This might seem like a very minor thing to the rest of you but for me it’s been something that’s haunting me every time I talk or think about Pokémon cards; it has to do with an incident that I witnessed on a transit bus almost to over 20 years ago which I still just can’t shake off to this day.

Everything I say on social media platforms are just nothing more than screaming into an uncaring void anyway.

I don’t even know why I bother.

Fellow @actuallyautistic people, I need some kind of advice here.

I am planning on attending some night classes at a local art school on graphics design, and I'm not sure if I should let my prospective classmates and instructor know I'm autistic when the time comes. Should I or shouldn't I?

Okay, kind of a bit of a confession and a bit of asking for fellow autistics ( @actuallyautistic ): I really enjoy hugging and snuggling up to soft things: plushies, hoodies, soft t-shirts, etc, and I feel really comforted when I hug a nice soft plushie or wear a nice comfy hoodie. I don’t want to call it a fetish, it’s more of an emotional comfort thing for me, but I do get a bit… pleasured (if you get my drift) when I do snuggle up to such soft things. …

Because of the Titan submersible incident I have been having a bit of a renewed interest in this whole Titanic thing (my autism and YouTube’s algorithm contributed).

Today, while trawling YouTube for Titanic-related videos I stumbled upon this clip of a deleted scene from the 1997 movie showing a Chinese man being rescued by people on the lifeboat that went back to look for survivors; I was quite surprised to learn that this scene was in fact based on a real event.

There are probably other things I can mention that / needs to properly compete with the likes of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram etc; baked-in post quoting is definitely another big one that I have seen getting people riled up as well.

This.

This is the kind of clown bullshit that infuriates me to no end.

Congratulations, you just gave fucking Microsoft a million more reasons to shove Edge down everyone’s throats even harder now.

Fuck you Opera. Fuck you and everything you stand for.

Am I the only one here who has an irrational fear of being seen as a shoplifter when out shopping? Or is it just me and a small minority of people?

Tagging my fellow @actuallyautistic crowd here, is it especially true for you folks?

Let’s be brutally honest: if the PAP is decaying, the opposition parties here are already rotten to the core.

Iswaran, Tan Chuan Jin, the Ridout Road controversy, all this is just a horrible look on the PAP right now.

But then you swing over to the opposition and what you get? Lim Tean, Charles Yeo, PSP and their confrontational style, and then you have M Ravi being charged for slapping someone.

So either way you look, it’s just 💩.

Seeing this in my timeline and comparing this to my own experiences has made me wonder, especially in the context of people like myself: how many of us prefer such “high-tech” solutions over more “traditional” approaches, and at what point does it become too much?

Google’s search sucks. That is an openly-known fact.

The problem is, as long as they have an effective monopoly the search results of their competitors will suck even more.

We need systemic change. We need to break Google’s monopoly.

Honestly, while I don’t deny the fact that women here in Singapore still face quite a lot of discrimination in various ways, we have to be frank about the many ways men get the short end as well - and I’m not talking about our NS policy, or how judicial caning is reserved only for men (that’s another whole can of worms).

For example, why is the objectification of men seen as acceptable and even normalised when the same can’t be tolerated when it applies to women?

Finally, after weeks of depression and procrastination I have finally managed to get my room cleaned and comfortable again, with some really lovely additions…
