Start using torrents. The good old ways are better. Don’t feed the corporate motherfuckers undeserved money. I even cheated disney+ for a subscription. I was getting disney+ subscription for one year (with ads) in my credit card if I spent a certain amount. I spent that amount and got the subscription for free and cancelled the order and got my money back. Now I have one year of disney+ which I will watch in the browser with ublock origin. No ads with all content unlocked. Do I care or regret?. No fucking way.
Streaming through apps has terrible quality most of the time based on their server loads etc. Even with fastest internet steaming from Disney+ quality is shit most of the time. When I am torrenting, i can get a high quality print and can watch it without any issue or buffering. It takes a few minutes to download a few gb’s. I am from a third world country and the internet here is so fast to download movies in 5 minutes max.
I think it’s a bit silly to suggest that the Chinese government killed a bunch of statisticians at the National Bureau of Statistics for publishing this data that’s actually not as bad as you might in English language news sources.

If I was logged into several instances at once in the client and seeing the composite feed and then could choose instance when replying or posting (with some set default, like from: field in e-mail clients) lemmy.world could ban piracy all it wants and it’d still be in my feed without me having to leave it or change instances.
There should be an option to see all posts on our feed from all our instances. Then when commenting choose the instance from which the comment has to be posted.

If we take the majority of internet users, in that 99% doesn’t care about ad blocking. They are not even aware of extensions and stuff. And most people in that category are not going to notice these changes at all as most of them are chrome users.
Some firefox fans will go to any extent to praise firefox by lying about chrome. One thing is that firefox is faster than chrome. My potato pc with 2gb ram and pentium dual core is able to run chrome (without ad blocking) faster than firefox. Page loading etc is faster even with ads in chrome. Same in my work pc with i5 11th gen and 16gb ram. Other chrome browsers like vivaldi and brave are even faster.
But do I care about a few seconds of lag in firefox?. No. I use firefox because of extensions and ad block integration. Not because of its speed. I also use chrome for banking websites etc for a smoother experience. Firefox has some more to do to get a smoother experience. Especially on phones. Pc firefox and chrome are almost similar. Even then chrome is a little bit more faster to be honest.
Other than people who are aware of this issue, that is a very small pool of people no one is ditching chrome.
