Thanks for this. It feels a bit harsh to rate a book so badly, but if a book doesn't work for a reader, then so be it. I guess it didn't help that I did not have the faintest idea who the author was ๐Ÿซฃ
Your description is pretty much spot on, I think. Too many books to read (I saw your 1,000 recommendations - very glad to have already read some) ๐Ÿ˜ to continue in one that's mostly annoying.

It definitely sounds like you made the right choice to quit reading that one. I too have gotten rid of books that I felt were not all that. Even though I have already read these, I am a bit jealous of you: you're going to experience that wonderful feeling of being blown away by an excellent book for the first time. And that four times in a row!๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ

Uit: 'Ik pak mijn bibliotheek uit'

@boeken

fifischwarz,
@fifischwarz@waag.social avatar

'Ik pak mijn bibliotheek uit' was de reden dat ik deze bundel ging lezen. En dat is weer omdat Walter Benjamin en de bibliotheek een grote rol speelden in The Book of Form and Emptiness, wat ik een erg mooi verhaal vond (dat is zeker een aanrader!).

De andere stukken in de bundel konden me niet echt boeien, maar dit kon ik des te meer waarderen.
Misschien omdat ik zelf verzot ben op bibliotheken en lange tijd verzamelaar was (en misschien nog steeds ben, zij het minder actief)

Though written as a fictional play sixty years ago, this could easily be a realistic account today. Considering the matter at hand, that thought is sickening. In spite of that - or precisely because of that - this is a very important read.
