flooppoolf,

That’s not how herd immunity works, once the population reaches a certain threshold it all goes to the toilet because not everybody can sustain the same immunity over long periods of time.

Herd immunity makes it hard for the virus to jump from person to person because the statistics dictate how likely it is for transmission to occur.

When a large amount of people are immunized it is less likely for it to jump from a newly vaccinated child to an adult that got vaccinated years ago because of the buffers that might exist in between those people.

When a less than useful amount of people are vaccinated it is more likely that it will just jump to all of the adults with weaker immunity.

So even if you’re immunized, sometimes that immunity goes away quickly as it did with the COVID vaccine.

Humanity is reaping what they sowed.

flooppoolf,

Red flag also goes for the person that gets insulted for that.

You’re older and pretending you’re not is creepy.

Almost always it’s just code for “I like power tripping and pretending I’m on some other sort of level, but don’t insinuate that it’s because I’m older” (it is)

What would happen if you vibrated your brain? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Pic basically unrelated, but required to post so maybe I’m in the wrong place. If there’s a better place for this lmk. Fediverse is hard to suss for locations. I looked for something like askscience but didn’t find anything and I’m not sure if that’s because it doesn’t exist or discoverability is still crap....

flooppoolf,

Good question for research, here is what I think

Nothing really.

The brain is surrounded by enough fluid to prevent things like normal motion from messing with it. Enough motion to do something will likely result in brain damage. Normal motion mimicking will likely result in your brain functioning as normal.

flooppoolf,

Is anybody else sad that these places only exist on a drawing. Like I know they represent real geographic areas but are they a place I could visit? Nope just a drawing.

"I don't have ADHD, I'm just really annoying"

So I recently started to recognize a lot of the behaviors associated with ADHD. I was and still am in doubt whether I have ADHD or not, but some specific events caused me to ask my doctor to refer me for a diagnosis. I was actually doing quite OK-ish this year, after having struggled with self-worth, short depressive episodes...

flooppoolf,

Bapa, you can always get a second opinion.

I’m pretty bad at forgetting memories, like I can remember almost all of my life so far, I just can’t remember to do things on time.

When they did that test on me I remembered how often I would piss myself at school because I would wait last minute to go. That was a huge sign for the psychologist.

Oftentimes I was bullied. Got in trouble for not paying attention, etc. (Give the Wender Utah rating scale a try)

Adderall won’t change your life completely, it’ll make things easier, but it is ultimately up to you to implement small habits to make things easier.

You’re not annoying, you just like to talk. Find people who like to listen. It can be hard nowadays what with all the intricacies of life. But there are plenty of people out there.

Don’t lose hope. And most importantly love yourself. You’re a beacon of light for your community. More often than not the people with ADHD tendencies are the ones who fight against the things that bring others down. Yes we are seen as an inconvenience, but fuck if I care, I want to make the world a better place, no matter the cost.

You’ll run into bumps along the way. But eventually you’ll find yourself. Promise.

flooppoolf,

It’s a slow and arduous process for sure.

Eventually you’ll grow comfortable with yourself and it will make directing all that passion much easier.

Unfortunately it is an expensive and long process. One psych had me under his Quetiapine, Fluvoxamine, Xanax spell for about a year. Convinced me that I was an anxious mess and that the only way out was to shut out my family. (That was a biiiig lie, family is what has kept me from doing terrible shit, they’re who is there when no one else is. Sometimes it is difficult for them to understand you but all in all they will almost always want what they think is best for you.)

Another tried telling me that I didn’t really want to become a doctor and that I was just depressed because of the intense undergrad classes. I’m 10 months out from finishing what I started. (School is hard and is that way to prove that you really want what you want, nothing comes easy. But remember that changing your mind is always an option.)

And finally a sweet and understanding psychologist helped me realize I was just a bit ADHD. Made me realize all my angst about not ever connecting with women was normal for me as a person. (He never outright told me I was gayer than Elton, he just explained that ADHD was not at fault here and to give myself space to think about what I really wanted) I began adderall and started getting the grades I wanted first. Then after that part of my life was fulfilled I was able to fulfill myself with a mostly happy (temporary) relationship and saw that hey it’s all good. I’m not broken. I no longer worry about seeking romantic happiness, as I have seen that it all comes by itself.

Now I just focus on being better at cleaning up after myself, getting acceptable grades, and helping people get better. Been off the adderall for about a year now and only go to my primary for it whenever the need arises (studying for hard exams)

Just remember that it is amphetamine and it is an addictive substance. The same goes for other stimulants of different classes. Many people have used it and learned to live without it successfully.

Every process is different but I guarantee that if you see this through you’ll find what you need.

Best wishes ❣️

flooppoolf,

Yiiiiikesss

flooppoolf,

Not everyone, including those that are oppressed, wants to die tho Bob.

It sucks, but there’s always hope. Giving up means closing the door behind you for future generations. Fight the good fight, even if it means losing.

flooppoolf,

I can’t imagine giving a fuck about any of that. Poor souls

flooppoolf,

Meh some of my more unhinged comments get downvoted to hell for being “angry”.

Makes me stick to regurgitating facts in the form of fun fact type of stuff.

Apparently some fuckwads here don’t like rage directed at stupid silly people like boomers, pensioners, or a certain political shade of red.

flooppoolf,

Like, otherwise this is just another fucking news site.

It’s annoying because people have opinions including those that create the titles for the news links and more often than not even the medical news is subjected to the weird and shitty clickbait tactics used across the net.

I would also like to express my opinion without having to worry about other people’s fucking feelings (within reason; nothing related to hate) like for fucks sake I understand that some people align a certain direction politically, I don’t hate you, I just don’t agree and think that you might’ve rushed to a conclusion there.

Ediiiiit: I like the Lemmy hivemind, it’s much more tolerable and thoughtful than the other fucking site. So I’m not asking for a change actually. I prefer to be told why my opinion sucks but having to explain my whole thought process is a tiny bit aggravating sometimes in order for both of us to realize that we were arguing about two different things. Like… what the fuck man.

flooppoolf,

Lack of fiber in their small diets.

Also not everyone eats taco bell twice daily.

Try eating once a day and you’ll experience something similar. (Probably not healthy)

flooppoolf,

Oh my.

I guess… we are here, just promise to laugh and we’ll do the shitposting. I think?

Stop taking online so seriously and the rest will crumble. As humans we just want to feel accepted and as part of the group.

But all these rules and guidelines and hardline beliefs will definitely stop the goofy fucks from posting if they also consider themselves to be a member of that community.

If I can fuck around at work where things are anything but funny, I can sure as fuck share my opinion on this site full of awkward nerds. (Hey I am one too)

flooppoolf,

The British equivalent of boomer, a retired person on pension.

flooppoolf,

There’s a beetle that secretes a burning / poisonous substance whenever it has sex and the female will gladly cover the eggs in said poison to deter predators from eating them.

This same poison (cantharidin) can be used topically to treat molluscum contagiosum bumps which is a very common virus that affects children for putting their hands absolutely on all dirty surfaces but also in grown adults in the form of a sexually transmitted disease.

Some places consider it an aphrodisiac but it’s just a poison. Don’t eat it.

flooppoolf,

All I know is they’re different in the sense that hubiera is more related to you personally and habría is more related to “was there”

Hubiera echo algo antes de que pasara.

Habría una posibilidad de haber echo algo?

Also I’m more familiar with Mexican Spanish and refuse to speak in Spain’s terms

flooppoolf,

Puro rancho humilde pareja 😎 (norte)

flooppoolf,

Swifties did not appreciate it and he went back to doing live skits because of it :(

haven't had a good day for weeks

The dishes are piling up. My apartment is a mess. I can’t stand long enough to make a decent meal. My tasks are falling way behind at work. The physical therapy exercises just stopped helping one day. Ibuprofen makes my stomach cramp, pretty sure I have a hernia, or at least it’s warning me it’s close. Weed doesn’t dull...

flooppoolf,

Have you tried Cymbalta?

Not sure where your pain stems from really, but if it’s back/fibromyalgia related it is a good choice. Talk to your doctor about it, it’s a non narcotic medication and it does wonders for the older gals and gents that can’t be taking ibuprofen/APAP all silly willy.

Also this is your wake up call that you’re in order to start a T-break :)

flooppoolf,

An ex had a collection of anime figures that cost him around 15,000 usd in total. Actual worth?

I’ll give you three fiddy.

flooppoolf,

By the time the orange bottle gets to you it’s been checked at least 2 times by different people and double checked by one of those 2, just at the pharmacy. Errors do happen, but when it’s for a controlled substance it’s someone’s license/job on the line.

A check is always worth it but due to liability/legality issues, once a control has left the pharmacy they won’t take it back because what would the odds be that this happened vs. someone dumping the controls and replacing them with whatever over the counter was in their medicine cabinet.

Glad the pharmacist caught it rather than blindly filling whatever came in the bottle. You’d have to get a whole FDA medication approval just to change the look of tablets/capsules and this would’ve definitely caused a shitshow at that pharmacy.

Of course if they would’ve filled it you’d eventually get your actual medication but again, there’d be a whole process going on rather than just waiting 2 days for more stock to come in.

flooppoolf,

That is the someone’s job and license I was talking about. Rarely if ever is a tech to blame.

flooppoolf,

I’m saying that people want change and their politicians are busy meddling in foreign affairs.

I’m sure Canadians are a bit irked by American politicians getting involved, no?

flooppoolf,

I think that this issue is minor enough to be resolved through other agencies, yes. What I think is not always what is best for everyone though, and I understand it’s a bit self centered to think that my opinion should dictate policy lol.

I just wish things like student debt, bad healthcare under the guise of bleeding edge technology and research, low wages, unemployment, global warming and mass incarceration should be top priority.

Instead they’re arguing over what an entirely different country with a completely different culture and subculture should be doing to accommodate foreign nationals. Yeah it’s shitty that they’re not being inclusive but it’s a bit selfish, no?

Am I being an ass? Sure. I just wish we could focus on more emergent local problems rather than start making a mess out of other countries political systems. I think the “world police” concept is rather overplayed and quite annoying to think of when there is bigger stuff happening at home.
