So today is and my only update is: I'm still wrangling over the design of the next music I want to "release".

Oh, and the name.
And the tracks.
And the mastering/mixing.

In fact, wrangling over everything.

@deggsie @RangerRick make sure to schedule a release with your publisher - at least like a month out after you upload the tracks.

This way you can have them submitted to be on Spotify "new release" playlists.

I did that with my last album... Not sure if it helped, but I doubt it hurt!

I think spring finally made it to the beautiful Northwoods of Midwest United States. For real this time. We had a fake spring about a month ago. Really breaks my heart when it snows in April.

I have a ton of planters. I'm going to try to turn my whole porch into a tomato/pepper/herb garden.

Sitting in the sun on the back porch (with noise canceling headphones to keep out the city sounds) is one of the real perks of working from home.

    at one point I rediscovered the concept of dance music and tried to develop a theory for it. I didn't actually realize that's what I was doing but.. Sometimes I'm impressed at how simultaneously stupid and ambitious I can be

    @tavi hahaha I've done that same thing. Whenever I'm playing something that gets the fans humming, I've put my nose up to the exaust.

    Then I remember how weird that must look so I stop doing it.

    @grabbi_it @malwaretech I bought a house in 2020 - I got lucky, it right before market blew up. It'll be paid off next year. Living below my means, and tossing all extra money at the mortgage.

    After that's done I'll be able to start doing something smart with my money... Like cryptocurrency?

    @grabbi_it @malwaretech well I'm not gonna say I don't have privelidge.

    I work remotely, and live in a small, artsy city in the Middle of the US. Raising a family. Wife works too.

    I'm making a salary that would afford rent in New York... And what affords rent in some places, let's you live well in others.

    We have a decent, 3 bedroom house. A half-decent neighborhood, in town. Paid less than $200k.... About 4 years rent in NYC.

    Friendica (https://friendi.ca) needs developers to help on the frontend, between the server-side PHP modules and views and the client-side HTML/CSS/Javascript aspect.

    (It would also be nice if they ran their own Friendica node to help with testing.)

    @hypolite I had a lotta fun ideas for it. Cuz there's a significant amount of people who use social media solely to complain about things they see in media or politics - maybe this is just my experience, or specific to the US - but I think not

    It would just be a sounding board for those folks to talk about stuff they hate.

    But in my thought experiment, it ended up becoming a kind of "freeze peach" instance for radicalizing youth to terrorism.

    So it's probably a no-go.

    @hilljam @shannoncurtis Seattle's music scene waa pretty damn neat. For some reason every time you were at a cool show you felt like you were getting away with something. I miss that.

    @hilljam @shannoncurtis man i do miss the scene. Some of my favorites were Fauna Shade, Choke The Pope, and I'd play open mics with this awesome lady named Sandy Fernandez.

    @hilljam @shannoncurtis I'm in a college town in Wisconsin. Our claim to fame is that we're the hometown/homebase of Bon Iver.

    That just means that for a decade after he got big, the music scene here was overrun with sappy, weird indie-folk music :P

    I see weird behaviour on Mastodon. Itch.io has 12k followers here, yet posts maybe once every 2 months ? I know it's not like other social media but if 12k people on this seemingly otherwise disparate & niche medium want to hear what you have to say you'd be saying something right? They're not the only example. To win people over there has to be stuff happening on Mastodon and/or this fediverse. I feel a shift since June when I joined but there's still a lot of low effort.
