How can we cut soaring demand for meat? Try a hybrid burger https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/nov/07/soaring-demand-meat-hybrid-burger-blending-benefits?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other I’ve had blended burgers from Lidl and enjoyed them. As they say in the article, if this concept was pushed it would lead to relatively quick and easy reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, among other benefits.

I recently went to a new optician, McOptic. My contact lenses cost me a lot less there than at my previous opticians and I was satisfied with the quality of the service. I go for a sight test once a year and buy lenses for six months from the optician. I buy lenses and cleaning products for the other six months online, usually at discountlens.ch

Maybe you’re thinking of making a donation to charity before the end of the year? May I suggest checking out the recommendations by The Life You can Save, Give Well or Giving What we Can? The recommended charities have been vetted for effectiveness. So you get the most good for your buck. BTW I can also recommend the book The Life You Can Save by Peter Singer

Are electric cars too expensive to tempt motorists away from petrol and diesel vehicles? https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/dec/16/are-electric-cars-too-expensive-to-tempt-motorists-away-from-petrol-and-diesel-vehicles?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other We changed our car last spring. We considered an EV, but due to difficulties of getting charging point at our rented parking we decided to get a small hybrid again. Our real fuel efficiency is about 3.7 L/100km, so that’s not bad for costs & emissions
