HamClock is easy to get going, but (a) any chance there's a retina-friendly option, and (b) is there a friendly fork where the source code is maintained somewhere in git, instead of in tarball-form?
@randy Interesting! I'll have to dig in on that side of things as I explore the various bits of software. So far for SDR, there are a ton of great FOSS options!
@Sknashville Ha, that's a good analogy! Like my wife makes pasta on her kitchenaid every few months. But if she did every month, she should get the nicer pasta maker.
@HankB Yeah; I mention that in the video I posted today—there are still a few little bugs, but I think eyes are on them now, since the M.2 HAT+ is here, and more people will encounter little issues!
There are thousands of these guys, crunching underfoot, being eaten by every critter in our yard, and now making the continuous racket... only a few making noise today, but it's coming. 80+ dB of cicada cacophony!!
They've actually gotten louder since I posted earlier. There were only a few making noise then. Now there are at least a dozen in the backyard, and the sound is mostly constant, instead of coming in and out!
@lina They are big and ugly (but kind in a fun bug way), and they really make a squish when you're walking around doing yard work and don't see one underfoot (there are thousands and thousands in my yard right now).
Looking at the graph, it shows predicted G5 levels around 0900-1200 UTC, which would be 5:00 am EST, or 3:00 PST. Still a chance to see something tonight, but... it'll be quite early in the morning.
Not asking for rec's right now, but man... there are like 13 different decent open source SDR GUIs/web UIs out there. Only used Gqrx and CubicSDR but will probably be testing a bunch soon.
My Dad uses SDR# I think, I have a list now to try :P
