Attention all, attention. The ability to insert cross-references from one part of a document to another—for example, ‘For more information, see page 24’—has been added to Affinity Publisher. On desktop, cross-references are managed on the Cross-References Panel (Window > References > Cross-References).

I really do hope that Mastodon winds up as the real central hub of RPG design and publishing discussions, perhaps partially serving to fill the social role of google plus. It's still an ephemeral medium and needs to be backed up with longer term storage solutions (such as blogs) but this place does seem to have a sufficiently robust set of social norms to facilitate effective discussion rather than discourse (tm).

It is now July 2023, which means that out first game (Spark Roleplaying Game) is officially ten years old and released into the public domain. Anyone can use or adapt the text of the game for any purpose including for commercial use, with no credit required. We are currently working on preparing a SRD to help folks use and adapt the system more easily.

I have to say that this is one of those situations where AI is legitimately pro-social and helpful. Thousands of public domain books from Project Gutenburg have been converted via AI into speech which will make them dramatically more accessible while also recognizing that very few of these books would ever be narrated by a human for a lack of commercial incentive.

Actual RPG publishing pro-tip; get a lot of print quotes if you are trying to produce an offset print quantity of a game product. The price variation can be absolutely wild.

C-22, The Canada Disability Benefit Act passed parliament yesterday and this is potentially a game changer for reducing poverty for disabled Canadians. @DEWLine They are defining everything via regulation, so I would not be surprised if they have a complete regulation drafted already and something posted for public consultation in the fall. I have no inside info, but it would make sense considering how barebones the legislation is.

Affinity Publisher folks; if you have been struggling with how to set up the right leading for an index (such as dots, dashes, or spaces), the option you are looking for is actually under the paragraph style for the index style itself and not under the Index tool itself. It's unintuitive and takes a little while to figure it out.

@JediSoth I had been desperately trying to twist my brain enough to be able to use the Scribus interface, so Affinity was incredibly user-friendly by comparaison.

This continent is the size of Australia. It's temperate in the north, cold in the south. Rivers aren't shown.

Pick an area on the map (each has a number and a dotted border) and tell me what biome is there. Biomes include Barrens, Desert, Forest, Grassland, Shrublands, and Wetlands, temperate & cold of each, AND fantastic variants (mushroom forest, crystal barrens). I will ask you ONE follow-up.

@LeviKornelsen Number 3 are the Singing Marshes, a vast series of interconnected wetlands akin to the Florida Everglades. They are cooler than their Floridian equivalent and are famous for hosting an incredible variety of vibrant birds whose courtship songs and dances attract artist souls from across the land.
