Really enjoyed this. Opened in US theaters this week. It borrows a ton from ghost in the shell, but hey it’s been 30 years. It’s a tight cyberpunk noir buddy conspiracy flick. The dub was excellent. Well done GKIDS.

Is there anything to keep GDC presenters from doing their presentations again outside of the GDC and uploading the video somewhere? The paywall, low quality recordings, and low quality web interface are a problem.

@erin_catto no. We get asked this by speakers all the time.

GDC just wants is the talk to be new for GDC, and to own the recording that was given there.

If you give it again after GDC is over it’s fine. As is posting a different recording.

Is there a command line way in windows to copy a file only if the destination file is different (bytewise comparison) than the source file?

I'm trying to not change the timestamp on files which aren't changed by a copy operation to minimize code build times.

It’s exciting to see giant games skipping immutable title data. I wonder if platform owners will allow true streaming/churning installs at some point. “The disc” has always been the backstop, but what if there was something bigger?

@floooh @dotstdy @TomF @lritter @glassbottommeg Super-cool. Really cool to see folks invest in this strategy with platforms that allow it. The mind boggles at some of the challenges far down this road with testing, performance, and egress cost. I think you end up having to lean more on statistical approaches where telemetry tells you which LODs practically get you any use, particularly where you have deduped assets for re-use.

Does anything in the Apple multiverse sync less reliably than Shortcuts? It just botched all of my folders and organization for the umpteenth time. I can’t even imagine how infuriating this must be for people who are more serious Shortcuts users than me.

@gruber photos.app corrupted all my meticulously maintained photo albums and I haven’t been able to bear putting time into my photo library ever again. 20000 exposures over two decades in hundreds of albums.
