Race report: it's done. first marathon: check . Strange experience, too much of everything. Too many runners, too many spectators. Too much commotion. As always at competitions, mercilessly over-paced at the start. At the end I fell off sharply and then just managed to finish with my target time. Next time the scenery will be more beautiful and there will be less pressure to perform.

A late #ThursDeath, as it's been an insane day. I've been compiling a 'grody metal' kind of playlist and Mexico's STENCHED is a crown jewel within it. Plus, they have one of the best band names of all time.

This EP of theirs 'Gorging on Mephitic Rot' from June of last year is solid bangers front to back. I've been listening to it all week. 6 tracks, 23 minutes. Whew. 🔥

Went for a run yesterday. Not very motivated, inwardly already taking a short cut, subconsciously probably already setting the pace for the shorter distance. Then ran the whole route anyway ....

Longest run I have ever done. Proud to have done it. The last 5 km was the one with the hammer. In between challenging course conditions...lots of mud.
Next year then bigger stages.

Perfect weather for an after work long run. Tested gels for the first time (for later longer runs). Worked well. New PR for 10k also set.

Busy vacation day; dropped bike off at shop, blood donation, lunch with @TAV at the wrong place, almost went to the Museum of Nature (aborted when saw both parking lots were full), picked up bike, cycled over to Running Room, and finally bought my first pair of "real” running shoes. Tried Hokas, Altras, and Asics. Really tough time picking which one as they all were comfortable. Came home with Asics GT-2000s. The forecast is garbage tomorrow morning - if it clears, I run.

I spotted this (apparently time limited, it hard-stops you 15 minutes after you start it) trial for this game Tembo the Badass Elephant in the Microsoft store the other day, so I threw it on my Series X. As it turns out, it came out in 2015, it was made by Game Freak and SEGA, and it's a pretty good game.

You're the titular badass elephant and you run around and rescue people and smash things (and are revived by peanut butter if you get too hurt)-- definitely a game for me. Feels a little like Donkey Kong Country sometimes.

Now, to put on my wishlist and wait for a sale. 🤣

Thanks to @causalityloop, I now have this excellent guide (maybe the best I've ever seen) to many metal bands and their respective types/categories (all up for interpretation/debate, of course, there might be a few missing or ones that cross over!)

I personally love so many types of #metal. #DeathMetal, #BlackMetal, #SludgeMetal, #Grindcore, etc.
