@peachfront It just one of our street pigeons that likes to hang around the balcony!

@peachfront The last one I posted today actually has a ring, sometimes carrier pigeons like to stop by here! And of course the wood pigeons. They're all pretty.

@kathimmel And goofy, especially the bigger wood pigeons. We call them muppet pigeons 🙂

I wonder if I should put a film into this little Minox 35 and try it out...

guidobibra,
@guidobibra@mastodon.social avatar

@martin Oh, why? They usually work fine if you can get the right battery for them. I may just try out a roll of expired film.

@bilddateien I was actually hoping to get a small half-frame like the Canon Demi as a backpack film camera, but this one may do as well for a while!

@DavidFord
Thanks, the shutter speeds seem to be okay and the light meter is working fine. I have some rolls of expired Ilford HP5+, I'll probably use one of those in the Minox.

@randahl The wood pigeons are really great - but it's true that they are a lot more flighty than the smaller city pigeons!

guidobibra,
@guidobibra@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl I think it has mainly to do with their living environments - the wood pigeons like to live more rural outside the busy city with less humans around, they truly are creatures of the forest. Which our backyard partly is. I've never seen one of them in the busy inner city where their smaller cousins are living in much greater numbers.

Squirrels 2024 #6 - This squirrel looked tired and grumpy, probably from burying all the walnuts on the balcony. https://foto.bibra-medien.de/2024/02/07/squirrels-2024-6/

guidobibra,
@guidobibra@mastodon.social avatar

@lappenjammer There's nothing especially to remember because they bury them in ALL the flowerboxes and pots! Wherever they dig, there will be walnuts and acorns 😅

City Views : Into the Valley 49 - Mülheim's Rumbach creek has steps for fish so they can go back to their spawning grounds. https://foto.bibra-medien.de/2024/02/03/city-views-1278-into-the-valley-49/

@thepoliticalcat Oh, of course, ladders in English - we call them Fischtreppen in German!

Analog Tales 2: The Canon A-1 - Over the last couple of years, a lot of Canon SLRs from the 1970s and 1980s went through my hands in the camera store and while I didn't really want to dive into another camera ecosystem, I could not resist the A-1... @kamerakata Ich hoffe dass meine A-1 ein bißchen hält, aber ich sitze ja auch an der Quelle und kann schnell Ersatz kriegen :-).

Analog Tales 1: The Praktica B200 is still my favourite analog camera because it belonged to my late mother, who bought it in Berlin in 1981... [more in the blog post] https://foto.bibra-medien.de/2024/01/08/analog-tales-1-the-praktica-b200/

@rick_t137 I had the Powershot S1, S5, SX10, SX30 and currently the SX60 and SX70 - before I got my Sony A65, I used the Canon bridge cameras exclusively. I still love the 60 and 70, though! And I've had the chance to try out an M50 and I really liked it, but it's not really the right camera for me.

guidobibra,
@guidobibra@mastodon.social avatar

@inky Sadly, the Praktica B200 has gotten relatively rare in the last few years. It's not easy to find one in good condition, but sometimes they appear on eBay.

guidobibra,
@guidobibra@mastodon.social avatar

@inky That's true, it has the Praktica bajonet mount, but Pentacon made an M42 adaptor for the B series that is still widely available. So you can easily put M42 lenses on it, although you have to use stop-down metering of course.
