Always have your own income, kids. Don’t get trapped in a relationship because you don’t have the resources to escape. “Oh but they would never—“ if anyone saw it coming, would they get into an abusive relationship? Say everything is perfect. They could go out and get hit by a bus tomorrow, and then what are you going to do? Have. Your. Own. Income. If you can’t have a job, put money away in a place only you have access to. Protect yourself.

Sapphire is moving around worse. If she doesn't bounce back, we may be talking about letting her go soon. It'll break my heart, but it'll be the right thing to do so she's not suffering. Right now she's still enthusiastic about food, so I'm willing to see if she perks up a bit before we start making decisions.

“They only got the job because they’re [insert protected class here]” only works if 1) the white person they are competing against isn’t mediocre, which, statistically… and 2) you assume the person who got the job can’t be anything other than mediocre or bad at a job simply because they are a woman or minority. That statement automatically shows your prejudice and most often how mediocre you, yourself, are.

My sister was at work when an old man came up to her and told her she should get on Ozempic and lose 100 lbs. Like you can’t even exist while fat now days. I bet this guy thought he was doing her a favor because she probably never thought about losing weight before and it was his good deed for the day, which makes it more vile.

My kid thinks it's wildly unfair (and I tend to agree!) that boys can bring their phones to the school formal dance (because pockets) and girls cannot (no pockets).

I’m so sorry for the loss of the nonbinary student in Oklahoma. They should have been able to go to school in peace. When politicians and adult society declare war on trans people, actual human beings end up brutalized by bullies and killed. The words of people like JKR make the actions of this child’s bullies possible.
