Like any deeply rooted identity, #GenderIdentity isn't voluntary, nor the outcome of some ideology. Its substance isn't ideational. It lives at the center of our beings as a conviction, an existential necessity, and manifests itself in the realization that there is no other way to live one's life.

One part of me is this perfect blend of a wise grandmother and a very optimistic friend. And they'll say:

Existing is resisting. Being excluded becomes meaningful when you stay put, when you keep existing. Not always meaningful to ourselves here and now. But very much so for those who come after us, those with whom we share predicaments.

And I believe them. But it's fucking hard to get it to stick all the way down. But one can try.
