Putin is in Kazakhstan today, and he got a presidential welcome at dawn from Tokayev.

So not only checking the blood pressure (119/78), but using a Kardia thing that can check for various issues including afib, now, just to be sure all is well. I wonder how many things I'll be monitoring manually when(if) I get to be 70!

ian_mclaughlin,

@revk I used a Kardia for a while. My cardiologist would look at the output from a Kardia, but not from my Apple Watch

Subject Access Requests (well, that is what they used to be called)...

Why do some organisations seem to deliberately wait for the one month limit to send the data?

How does that help anyone.

I asked NHS for my MRI. Immediate response asking to confirm ID, and then said they would process.

One month later (less a day), I get the data.

It seems they have a system in place to share medical data, so not like it took them a month!

ian_mclaughlin,

@revk orgs must respond “without undue delay”. I guess replying immediately might be considered to be the start of a conversation

Others have already reviewed Garbuzov’s essay in detail, but I’ll retread all that a bit to share some of the bits that most struck me. I think it’s remarkable that he actually named Putin in the text. Would have been easy to refer merely to the post-90s & use other euphemisms.

    Here is a question.

If the impeachment process had worked properly against Trump, would all (or some) of these indictments have still happened?

    ian_mclaughlin,

@davidallengreen the crimes couldn't have taken place, could they?

    Threads

I know it will irk some of you that some of us have Threads accounts.

My heart is with open protocols and Mastodon.

    But.

The reason I do legal commentary is that I think promoting the public understanding of law is a good thing.

As such the wider reach the better - a public good.

I am also a writer, and the wider I can cast links to my Substack which provides financial means for me to justify using time for commentary, the better for me, as a private good.

    I am sorry to irk.

    ian_mclaughlin,

@davidallengreen a more discerned position than I saw elsewhere “I can post videos longer than 2 minutes, this is The One”

    Ciaraioch, to threads

Can't delete your account without also deleting your Instagram, non-chronological feed showing stuff from across the platfrom instead of the people you follow, tight algorithmic control of what you see, wall-to-wall bad brand patter... I've never been less mad about being geoblocked from using an app

    I was wrong.

Back in 2016, I wrote that Donald Trump had a "Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free" card: https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2016/11/donald-trumps-get-out-of-jail-free-card/

I still maintain that it is a terrible look for a democracy to indict, arrest, or imprison a leading candidate.

    ian_mclaughlin,

@Edent seeking office should encourage one to not do crime. They're supposed to be the best of us, and it's right that they be examined and held to the standards they wish to set for the rest of us

🆕 blog! “Can this device make a phone call?”

I want to detect if a web browser is running on a device which is capable of placing a telephone call. Is that possible? I'm going to go with a cautious "no - not quite". Although there are several proxies which get you part of the way there. Here's a link to a telephone number […]

@Edent I’ve had trouble in the past with Safari on iOS mistaking numbers on a page as dialable when they’re not intended to be, no <a> needed. Maybe phone browsers do some of the lifting for you already?
