hey did you know that mp3 files can do gapless playback? lots of people think they can't!

why? because it's way too fucking hard to decode mp3 streams correctly!!!!

two reasons:

1. most 'modern' encoders encode an empty frame at the start of each stream, just to hold VBR-related metadata in the header

if you don't know about this and skip it, you will get many samples of silence at the start of your output, and gapless playback will break.

i have no idea who the new miniware solder station is for, but it’s really cool.

the iron part has no battery!! just a really huge supercapacitor that the base station charges (thank u @ErinRose for finding internal pic)

i love recommended layouts in data sheets so much. really makes me feel like i’m a pro and know what i’m doing

another example, this time with a… wson package? the one that’s like qfn but not quad. this one has a bunch of copper pours as well, to maximise both the surface area of the passive pads and the much smaller ic pads

i think i will take a month more than planned to finalise hardware. nothing in firmware is blocked in the meantime, and it lets me make sure a couple more things are just right. e.g getting rid of the tant caps is nice ethically, and it gives us more time to get some real world prototype usage

Been catching strays for a couple of days because of totally unaltered screenshots of the tweets his own server made him delete.

I just love it when awful people who fuck with me get what they have coming to them tho; especially if that requires no effort at all on my part.

hey tangara works as a fully functional but extremely shit media player now i guess

simply control the device entirely over usb serial. there will be no practical issues with this.
